Mastodon can be accessed through a variety of third-party apps, with varying degrees of quality: some run faster than others, some have discrete UX decisions that favor simplicity over expanded controls, etc.

One thing that the Fedilab app does very well is handling busy comment sections in threads. They add these color lines on the left-hand side that makes it very easy to identify which comments are parented/nested with one another.
