Apparently young people care more about climate change, and not participating in human rights violations or genocides and imperialism, boo hoo https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-01/inside-the-uk-push-to-recruit-more-spies/104510104

@skinnylatte around 30 yrs ago, a friend from school went for a job at a defence/intelligence adjacent organisation. The clearance was quite invasive. It included interviewing/interrogating friends. @skinnylatte "defence still has a very clear mandate from the government to prepare to fight wars we hope we don't have to fight, while climate change is a competing factor with all of those things" Somebody still has a few dots to connect, even beyond the bit where the kids don't want to be part of the problem. It's almost like the kids have a clearer perspective on the situation than the seasoned pros.

When I was a teenager I was TERRIFIED of cats. I would cross a street when I saw one (often, as there were lots of ‘community’ / feral cats where I grew up). Now I’m on Mastodon posting Mila photos twice a day. What happened, that I transitioned to cat lady? Easy. I became a lesbian, and first it was mandatory, and now voluntary. My cat screams at me to wake up to feed her breakfast, then right after she eats she screams at my wife to wake up because she’s already had breakfast and everyone should be up to keep her company God help you if you don’t wake up

Sometimes she sleeps very deeply and then suddenly flips over to check if I’m still here. I adore her little old face (she’s.. 18?!) @skinnylatte She looks so good for 18! Lush fur, bright eyes! You've been an excellent cat mum! Mila: if I sit on your laptop, your pen and your notebook then you will have no choice but to pet me

@skinnylatte OH GREAT FLUFF YOU HAZ! :blobcatfluffpats: I've been doing things that don't scale for at least a decade. When I started my nonprofit in Mumbai in 2012, people told me what I was doing was too small. "You're *ONLY* changing the lives of 100 children at a time" The nonprofit still runs (a great local team runs it). We've done more in 12 years than anyone who told us we had no impact. I dropped a popcorn on her while she was sleeping. She instantly woke up and ate it. Be as prepared as Mila @skinnylatte he is such a throwback embarrassment, but still too many Brits still think favourably of the Empire. They get really upset when you bring up all the Famines the British Empire caused.... finally someone wrote The Thing about 'digital nomads' YES https://www.thrillist.com/travel/nation/digital-nomads-criticism-locals-exploitation |
@skinnylatte@hachyderm.io FINALLY, science is good for something
@skinnylatte have they found the gene which makes orange cats such thick-headed chunguses though?
