 A few years ago, I was terrified of handling cats. I was terrified of cats, full stop (just a personal phobia). Then Mila came into my life and today, I’ve had to carry her and poke a needle into her to give her the life-preserving IV fluids she needs for her kidney disease. We do this every two days. Love does strange things to you Mila, after being literally stuck to me the whole night as I slept, is now coming to sit on me after breakfast. I am a human couch for her. Doing it right I’m not allowed to stop petting her until she says so. Otherwise, she head butts me vigorously to let me know. My cat refuses to sleep on her bed unless it’s in a specific spot. Each cat bed must be in each area and never moved. She spends her day moving from bed to bed, like the world’s slowest baseball game. The face of a cat about to throw hands (paws??) that humans are eating HER fish, apparently I told my cat I was going camping and she flopped over. ‘You go right ahead. I’ll be cozy on the couch.’ As someone who has more experience with dogs, I was surprised to learn that my cat couldn’t just lick the treat off her own nose.
