IF YOU'RE STILL IN LINE TO VOTE, keep it to yourself. i don't wanna hear your whole life story.

@samhenrigold my only objection is to chocolate pancakes; clearly blueberries are superior ;)

Kaito

@samhenrigold looks pretty good and I'm sure you can't finish all that

if you hear someone at the door, it's me

i like that coked-up little gay sidekick steve kornacki. it’s fun to watch him go ham with google maps on the smartboard

harris needs to win so we don’t have to endure five years of cringy anti-trump musicals

i’ve developed a solid election night plan: pancakes and a bourbon cocktail. i need the comfort of pancakes, but i feel like a mimosa would be too celebratory. so we’re going with a makers mark old fashioned. i think that’s the right level of “locked in, ready for extreme highs or extreme lows”

Trevor

@samhenrigold oooo I should pick up a bottle of Freeland's bourbon for that, good idea.

Alex White-Robinson

@samhenrigold love this idea, we'll do pancakes (and tiramisu and neat whiskey) too I think.

We just put out a big update for the Mastodon Android app! A lot of this was based on feedback from Play Store reviews. Give it a shot, it's a really strong update.

@samhenrigold Sounds nice, might test, but I'm missing an important feature here: reverse timeline. That is, timeline in real chronological order. As far as I can see the only Android app offering this at the moment is @pachli

@samhenrigold Hi Sam,
I have two questions/complaints.
the first is that I can't turn off the 'new posts' button (screenshot attached) which feels ro me like something stuck on the screen. I don't find it helpful or desirable to know there are new posts when i'm intentionally scrolling backwards in time.

second, I don't know how to view the public timeline. this is fairly easy on Tusky, Pixelfed, and Pixeldroid among others. am I missing something or is it not included? Android - v2.8.0 (125)

We are on ULP strike. We gave #NYTimes management months of notice of our strike deadline, we made ourselves available around the clock, but the company has decided that our members aren’t worth enough to agree to a fair contract and stop committing unfair labor practices.

inside me there are two wolves. one wants to post a pic of the amazing view i have of the #nycmarathon and the other wolf is screaming “that’s tantamount to posting your address, every photo includes the cross street sign”

@samhenrigold use Clean Up to remove those signs and any other potential identifying information or just let wolf 2 prevail 😂

Zeno ✨

@samhenrigold my solution is usually Close Friends on Insta

Leon Overweel

@samhenrigold how about instead, you use Facebook to generate an image of an amazing view of the marathon

@samhenrigold I hate (A.I.?) suggested responses or reactions — ever since LinkedIn made this a normal practice, I've only used it by accident or when it was hilariously unfitting and both sides understood it wasn't really my response.

alright i have a crackpot weekend mad science idea: iPhone OS 1.x development. If I can even get the toolchain working I’ll be happy.

Григорий Клюшников

Can't you use the official iOS 2.0 SDK for that? Or are there some changes to the linker/runtime/ABI that make it completely incompatible?

I’m kicking around the idea of writing a blog post on this mode and how to smooth out some of the paper cuts that make these apps a pain to use.

I get the whole point of this mode is “set it and forget it” but if a dev can spend ~a couple hours to make some changes to make it decent, I don't think that's asking for too much.

The big one are gesture recognizers that assume multitouch capability and missing keyboard shortcuts. What else? hachyderm.io/@samhenrigold/113

what am i supposed to call those iOS apps that run unmodified on macOS? they have a bunch of names which makes it impossible to search for online. this is specifically not Catalyst, I'm talking about the "if you don't explicitly opt out, it will run" mode

@samhenrigold “Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.” apps? (a mouthful but the most official I can find)

Edit: apps.apple.com/story/id1535099 or just “iPhone and iPad Apps on Mac”

SCOTUS leaning extra-hard on the scales in the week before the election by allowing voter purges to continue in Virginia, overruling two levels of lower courts via the shadow docket.

U.S. folks, please get out there and vote for Kamala Harris. No matter if you think your state is going blue, red, or in between: we need a country-wide popular-vote landslide along with an electoral-college win to hold back the forces of fascism that are increasingly explicit in how they will tear down our democracy if they come into power.
