So long, thanks for all the games. I got fired. I'll be handing this account over to the next person. It's been fun - Liam x

@gamingonlinux You know itโ€™s serious when they CC the CEO in the email signature. lmao

slembcke

@gamingonlinux All this corporate double speak. Upper management needs a shakeup at GoL! Bring back Liam! Liam for CEO!

@gamingonlinux

Good thing this is not a sack letter to you but notice of redundancy.

*phew!*

Another?! I mentioned this in videos before but Iโ€™ll say it here: the reason I will stick to Steam Deck is a question of quality and support, especially long-term support.

How can people expect commitment to support and quality, when a new model is being announced constantly.

@gamingonlinux especially when everything is windows based. At least in a more open ecosystem it is possible the community will take up some support burden. Weren't they also making their version of steam OS at some point?

Asatiir

@gamingonlinux Having options is still good. I own an Ayaneo Air Pro, love it to death but would still suggest a Steam Deck to anyone getting into PC handhelds because it requires less setting up than other PC handhelds, not because there's a problem with Ayaneo or their devices. A lot of these other devices are there for someone who is looking for something specific that the Steam Deck does not offer, if they know what they're looking for the alternatives may fill their niche.

Just FYI, no plans for any April Fools this year. It's on a Saturday when I generally take time off ๐Ÿ™

@gamingonlinux
Hmm... That's exactly what someone who has April fools plans planned would say ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง๐Ÿ˜œ

@gamingonlinux This game is great, and also super stressful.

@gamingonlinux Hi, creator of Xenospore here. Thanks for posting! To anyone who is wondering, I was definitely inspired by Into the Breach (and some other games). Gameplay wise the goal of protecting houses is similar but this game is about destroying areas and preventing the spread of infection. Also there are no units! Thanks for playing! :D

My son just trolled me on the phone saying my job for GOL is:

"HEY GUYS!!!" (a joke about YouTube) ๐Ÿ˜†

And

*type type type type type*

Pretty accurate ๐Ÿ˜…

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

In slightly more positive news my latest Steam Deck news video is doing quite okay.

@gamingonlinux report the guy to your and his admin. At least on my instance such behavior will get the whole server banned if their admins donโ€™t do anything about this weirdo.

regeya

@gamingonlinux this must be some of that "critical commentary" people claimed the lack of quote tweeting was preventing.

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Seems some people are *still* confused: GamingOnLinux is officially one person, me, Liam.

This account is to attempt to be *social*, it's a social network after all. Mixed with the actual content I provide and sometimes others contribute on GamingOnLinux.

If you don't like me being social - why are you here? ๐Ÿ˜† use RSS.

@gamingonlinux I believe the difference would be following GoL as a site or entity, or you as a person, when both are bundled into the same federated account. I expect to follow only GoL things while following this handle, not your personal opinions/rants/wathever which may be the case for others as well; though they are different ways of telling this to you or interact with you without entering in meaningless fights, as you stated.

vifon

@gamingonlinux So far it seems that's you not liking people being social to you, not the other way around. Why are *you* here?

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

To people who still don't get it: GOL isn't a company, or organisation.

There's a difference between being social and having a bit of fun, and being *fully personal* like posting pictures of me passed out drunk with a burger in my hand and a smile on my face - that's not what I'm doing. I'm interacting on a personal level.

If that offends: just unfollow. I don't need to read your moaning on what *you* feel my account should be. I supply RSS feeds for a reason - use them.

Stormy178

@gamingonlinux this is certainly some interesting and welcome news. Makes me wonder if Nintendo is going to use Vulkan on the Switch, if they aren't already. If they are, great, this will greatly help with performance not just on Switch, but on other platforms like PC.

Some cancelled their support of what i do due to โ€œMastodon rantsโ€ ๐Ÿ’€

Not going to apologise for existing as a human being, who has thoughts and doesnโ€™t like the gatekeeping on Mastodon that some people keep showing.

However it does repeatedly tell me that perhaps Mastodon isnโ€™t worth so much of my time because of all the hate and arguments thrown at me. Will be thinking on this.

@gamingonlinux Fuck the gatekeepers. Keep doing what you do. Plenty of us here support and like you.

Sascha Kรถnig

@gamingonlinux don't listen to comments like this. There will always be people who do not like what other people do or say. Don't be discouraged by negative feedback.

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Mastodon users often be like: letโ€™s be inclusive! Welcome others! Hereโ€™s some tips!

Me: okay cool ๐Ÿค™ hereโ€™s my Instagram

Mastodon users: ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ

@gamingonlinux I can see where the disconnect is here even if you don't want to. They want to welcome others here, to MASTODON and you're trying to send them to INSTAGRAM, it's an easy mistake but a lot of people on here are trying to avoid MSM. But almost seems like you're instigating the problem, first reintroducing MSM, then suggesting people interact with you there, and acting a victim. Not really the kind of thing I'd like to see, feel free to block me if you're doing it intentionally

CuccU

@gamingonlinux Try and do the opposit, to see how Instakilo users react heheheheh
Let me know how it came out...

Kithop

@gamingonlinux There's a big difference from watching Twitter turn into basically a fascist mouthpiece and Facebook/Instagram/Meta just being... The standard flavour of corporate evil, IMO.

And yeah - if you want people to be *aware* of better ways, you meet them where they're at first. Go do what you need to on Instagram, and we can happily scroll past and ignore it since we're already here.

Very *very* few people get to use FOSS as their first platform.

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

Here we go again: Mastodon is not just for FOSS and Fediverse purists. If i want to post highlighting that I am also on other platforms, some you may not like or want to use - just scroll to the next post. Be accepting that people are in other places. Lecturing people and hassling people about being in places you donโ€™t like is unhelpful notification noise and I will block people who keep doing it.

@gamingonlinux I don't care if you want to use mainstream consumer hostile platforms. I am on Mastodon because I don't like those platforms as are many other people. Constant complaints and block gloating is annoying. You don't have to announce every time someone urks you. Talk about spamming your notifications while spamming new feeds with useless posts focused on getting affirmation from others for your choice to block everyone that bugs. You can just block and move on.

Nick Astley

@gamingonlinux What if that other place is a hate site

Like Twitter or Stormfront

Am I not supposed to lecture or harass you about that

Sarah Anne

@gamingonlinux
What cracks me up is when people complain about someone cluttering up their feed with stuff they don't want to see, and it's like..."are you not just cluttering up my notifications right now when you could just mute me?"

[DATA EXPUNGED]
DELETED

@gamingonlinux
That's a really great news๐Ÿ‘
Even if I won't be following you there because I don't have an account there, but this is where the people are (like JoueurDuGrenier said when it talked about the non sense YouTube restrictions and demonetizations).

But I really hope that it would help spreading the word that Linux IS ready for gaming (even with a nVidia card ๐Ÿ˜‰) like you do on YouTube.

ไบŒใ‚ธใƒฃใƒž

@gamingonlinux Post this again when it's been 24h until the gatekeeping stops ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Diane ๐Ÿ•ต

@gamingonlinux

*sigh*

Well at least they fixed a wide range of versions...

Rob van der Linde

@gamingonlinux for me the Nvidia drivers have been hard-locking up the entire system when using Chrome based browsers playing video then going fullscreen and bam! total system freeze. That has been going on for almost a year now. How on earth do you report such a thing to Nvidia. I should try newer drivers.
