Serious question: Why would we want to support Meta?

Go find the Fediverse replacement for Instagram and tell us how to follow you there.

@tcely @pixelfed to repeat the obvious: hardly anyone uses them, and it would be preaching to the choir on the types of people using it, this is basic marketing

Especially, with a topic like Linux gaming, asking people to sign up for a Microsoft account and use Windows to read your content isn't stellar marketing, all on its own.

Receiving pushback for doing something similar doesn't surprise me at all.

It's a shame that some people haven't learned the lessons of the past.

(Shout-out to @oatmeal for this insight that applies to Meta/Facebook/Instagram.)

A comic that The Oatmeal posted to Facebook about how asking people to follow you on Facebook caused problems by giving them the power to decide what your followers can see.

Facebook then offered to show that comic to more people, if they paid them to do that.

The scrawled response was: LOL
