I worry about #GlobalWarming. I like #FreeSoftware. I think personal physical and digital #Privacy is an important goal. I blame cars as one of the major cause of our environmental and social problems and think cities should be #CarFree. At times I have enjoyed reading #ScienceFiction and #Fantasy though have been too busy since becoming a #Parent.

There's several parts where they imply its social media that's making under 30s less happy, but eventually hit on this list: impact of rising social media use, income inequalities, the housing crisis, and fears about war and climate change
So if you are stressed and unhappy, whats you're reasons? (I added a few more ideas of causes of unhappiness to try and capture stresses I see on the fediverse).
Pick as many as you want.
Oh noes. "Young people becoming less happy than older generations, research shows"

I'm irritated by the press blaming "social media" for teens & young adults being depressed.
Compared to all the other stresses people are facing these days social media has the most options for being controlled.
People are probably using social media so much because everything else sucks so bad.
I think many people might prefer in person socializing, but there's very few cheap places you can and hang out with others. (Especially for teens, but public space is rare for everyone)
I have some devices that plug in easily and I can nearly always connect them in one try. But i have others have taken 3-5 times to get it inserted correctly
Also because my kid doesn't pay attention and tended to drop things I've some of the gen 10 version of the netdot magnetic charging cables which can almost connect on their own.
It looks like google is manipulating the entered search queries to make them more profitable for google.
"Say you search for “children’s clothing.” Google converts it, without your knowledge, to a search for “NIKOLAI-brand kidswear,” making a behind-the-scenes substitution of your actual query with a different query that just happens to generate more money for the company, and will generate results you weren’t searching for at all. It’s not possible for you to opt out of the substitution."

@alienghic Someone turned me on to Kagi the other day (https://kagi.com/). You can search for free, up to a limited number of searches per month, but also buy packages with higher amounts. The price is small, but I realize that it still may not be for everyone. However, it deserves all the attention it can get in order to get people off Google.
