Seems like the guy behind Linux Gaming Central has just nuked the website, the twitter and mastodon account. Weird. Hope everything is okay.

I've seen many attempts come and go over the years but still here 💪

@gamingonlinux Higher resolution is a terrible idea, it's a huge overhead cost for very little real-world gain. If anything it's a net negative because of how much frame throughput you're losing out on for something you won't perceivably notice. It'd be way better to have an OLED screen of the same resolution as the default screen.

@gamingonlinux I wish framework to have third party companies making upgrade kits for them too

DELETED

@gamingonlinux i don't understand why you would want that, you won't be able to run AAA games at 1200p and gaming at 800p or 720p on a 1200p display look like shit, it wiol be way better to just have OLED/Higher Hz or both

@gamingonlinux Remember when Steam allowed us to store gift copies of games? I still have four gift copies of the "Prison Architect - Your name in the credits" DLC. I wonder what the developers would say if someone redeemed one of those now. 😀 Probably nothing at all. Looking at SteamDB, it redeems what's now called the "Aficionado" DLC as well as some other games by Introversion.

@gamingonlinux If the 4060 gets to stores for 300€ I'll finally be able to replace my trusty 1060.

@gamingonlinux I am also on an aging nvidia video card (1080 ti). Not sure I can afford a laptop running the 4xxx series though. I need to make more $$$$

RAK

@gamingonlinux: Wish Nvidia's drivers on Linux weren't as much of a chore as they've proven to be for me in the past.

DELETED

@gamingonlinux this paired with the other things coming from steam beta makes me hopeful that in 2-3 months SteamOS 3 might come out for desktop finally

Article update: they said they're now going to do special settings just for the Deck...

Harry

@gamingonlinux this makes sense tbh. With fully unlocked settings options, they may have been getting performance complaints from people trying to run on high settings. There's really no point running the game at higher settings than the deck can realistically run.

I really want a Framework laptop to build. Anyone got a spare £900 🤣

@gamingonlinux Never hurts to ask! You could do a gofundme or some such. It wouldn't be unreasonable to treat it as a review machine.

Spent 20 minutes rendering video and.... Kdenlive rendered half of it with low-quality proxy clips from an imported project 🤦 🤦

Had to delete the imported project, open it separately and then copy over the clips to have it use them properly. So annoying.

I love Kdenlive but it has so many bugs like this.

@gamingonlinux why not use the free version of Davinci ? (Or blender depending of what you create in the video)

Matt Carrier 💻

@gamingonlinux have you tried using Blender? I’ve been using it to edit old family movies and it works way better than I expected. It also has support for proxy footage so you can move around the timeline fast.

@gamingonlinux This last version of plasma has been pretty damn buggy.
