@gamingonlinux I still wouldn't make a game with unity in the future, but this is great news for developers who are late into development of a game and couldn't change the engine without spending a lot of time or money. @gamingonlinux I honestly wonder how this will affect digital marketplace sellers and avatars in something like VRChat. @gamingonlinux I don't think Valve would agree to being bought though I don't know how these thing go. It seems that if they throw enough money they can buy whatever they want @gamingonlinux The only way Valve would accept this is if GabeN gets to be the new owner(and I don't mean just CEO, but sole/majority shareholder of the company). Otherwise, fat chance of it ever happening. @gamingonlinux Microsoft it's already bad enough, we don't need them buying Valve, they can suck a lemon. Ubuntu 23.10 'Mantic Minotaur' Beta now available https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/ubuntu-2310-mantic-minotaur-beta-now-available/ @gamingonlinux ummm am I missing something or is Canonical calling the main Ubuntu desktop image "legacy" now? @gamingonlinux Damn, this « new » Gtk version and its UI are definitely quite pretty Lies of P is running great on Steam Deck and desktop Linux https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/lies-of-p-is-running-great-on-steam-deck-and-desktop-linux/ The article on Microsoft's buyout of Activision was updated, as Proton was mentioned too https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/microsoft-buyout-of-activision-gets-closer-uk-cma-consulting-further/ @gamingonlinux So Ubisoft is asking MS to make their games compatible with Proton? That's.... interesting... I miss good old times of Diablo II, StarCraft and Warcraft III. Not convinced Microsoft would help. Would love to see new developers taking back this lost legacy by creating a new franchise with their own small company. @gamingonlinux While I don't believe Microsoft's monopoly is a good thing, the part about porting the games OSes other than Windows sure is interesting @gamingonlinux for Blizzard, any change is a good change. I'd rather have Microsoft do to WoW what they did to Minecraft than let Blizzard and especially Danuser do to WoW what they're doing. I'd even rather they just shut down every WoW server and create a new game altogether. Amazing what developers can accomplish when the goal post isn’t constantly moved on them! @gamingonlinux Good. The Deck is good hardware for what it is and having a stable target for developers is a good thing. Also, seeing devs push the capabilities of existing hardware rather than just waiting for better hardware is good for everyone. The article on Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer being broken on Steam Deck was updated, they're looking into it https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/halo-the-master-chief-collection-multiplayer-seems-broken-on-steam-deck/ @gamingonlinux As much as I hate Microsoft I’m happy that Halo Mcc got wine support on linux and they’re maintaining it @gamingonlinux has anyone been able to get full desktop Linux eac to work? Tried every proton, reset prefix, etc.. love steam deck support but will always prefer to game at my desktop if I want to play seriously Paradox and C Prompt team up for Millennia and it looks very Civilization https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/paradox-and-c-prompt-team-up-for-millennia-and-it-looks-very-civilization/ @gamingonlinux Hm, looks like a Civ6 clone with some EU4 elements mixed in. I do wish the default were to clone Civ4 rather than Civ6 I wonder what's making Civilization clones bloom now (Humankind, Old World, this) when they weren't really a thing for the previous three decades, other than maybe Activision's Call to Power Core Keeper gets a mod SDK and https://mod.io/ support + Shimmering Frontier update due October 4th https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/core-keeper-mod-sdk-shimmering-frontier-update-october-4th/ @gamingonlinux If only I wasn't forced to create a Mod.io account in order to use them. @gamingonlinux nice for them, i may not personally use MonoGame but hey, Free and Open Source it's ALWAYS nice.
