@gamingonlinux I still wouldn't make a game with unity in the future, but this is great news for developers who are late into development of a game and couldn't change the engine without spending a lot of time or money.

@gamingonlinux I honestly wonder how this will affect digital marketplace sellers and avatars in something like VRChat. Would the 2.5% revenue share be passed along to the seller/creator of the asset?

@gamingonlinux I don't think Valve would agree to being bought though I don't know how these thing go. It seems that if they throw enough money they can buy whatever they want

leveste

@gamingonlinux The only way Valve would accept this is if GabeN gets to be the new owner(and I don't mean just CEO, but sole/majority shareholder of the company). Otherwise, fat chance of it ever happening.

Ray Of Sunlight

@gamingonlinux Microsoft it's already bad enough, we don't need them buying Valve, they can suck a lemon.

Liemaeu

@gamingonlinux Better they call Proton an emulator but support it than vice-versa.

Richard Orilla :mastodon:

@gamingonlinux So Ubisoft is asking MS to make their games compatible with Proton? That's.... interesting...

Nicolas Gimenez

@gamingonlinux We desperately need a Blizzard rebirth. I miss good old times of Diablo II, StarCraft and Warcraft III. Not convinced Microsoft would help. Would love to see new developers taking back this lost legacy by creating a new franchise with their own small company.

Brenno Lemos

@gamingonlinux While I don't believe Microsoft's monopoly is a good thing, the part about porting the games OSes other than Windows sure is interesting

Flaviu E. Hongu

@gamingonlinux for Blizzard, any change is a good change. I'd rather have Microsoft do to WoW what they did to Minecraft than let Blizzard and especially Danuser do to WoW what they're doing. I'd even rather they just shut down every WoW server and create a new game altogether.

Keep the improvements coming, Valve! I always hated playing 3D shooters on a gamepad, but the Steam Deck's trackpad + gyro changed that. Very hard to get used to it at first, but now it is a must for me. I wish more games would implement it better. There are too many that can't handle mouse and gamepad controls simultaneously, including several Verified AAA titles like Control and Horizon Zero Dawn.

@gamingonlinux So, Deckard seems more likely to be a VR peripheral than a Deck refresh...

@gamingonlinux Look at the difference in graphics and performance from Kingdom Hearts (2002) and Kingdom Hearts 2 (2005) on the PS2 (13 year lifespan). Amazing what developers can accomplish when the goal post isn’t constantly moved on them!
Stable, long lasting hardware is better for developers, better for our pockets, and better for the environment.

Adam Honse

@gamingonlinux Good. The Deck is good hardware for what it is and having a stable target for developers is a good thing. Also, seeing devs push the capabilities of existing hardware rather than just waiting for better hardware is good for everyone.

@gamingonlinux As much as I hate Microsoft I’m happy that Halo Mcc got wine support on linux and they’re maintaining it

camclark715

@gamingonlinux has anyone been able to get full desktop Linux eac to work? Tried every proton, reset prefix, etc.. love steam deck support but will always prefer to game at my desktop if I want to play seriously

Shelly

@gamingonlinux got my hopes up for a second that this was about infinite

@gamingonlinux Hm, looks like a Civ6 clone with some EU4 elements mixed in. I do wish the default were to clone Civ4 rather than Civ6

I wonder what's making Civilization clones bloom now (Humankind, Old World, this) when they weren't really a thing for the previous three decades, other than maybe Activision's Call to Power

@gamingonlinux nice for them, i may not personally use MonoGame but hey, Free and Open Source it's ALWAYS nice.

Trese Brothers Games

@gamingonlinux 😆 I was just at the dentist yesterday and we were talking about how amazingly long Counter Strike has been going strong.

Hope the sequel lives up to expectations.

I think that if they really wanted to canary test it, they should have released it for Linux first #Linux #CS2
