Mastodon: Bluesky is Bad, actually It’s like a shit version of West Side Story. how long before a Mastodon user and a Bluesky user fall in love while communicating exclusively over the fedi bridge This is one of the most dystopian, depressing things I’ve ever seen: https://intouch.family An AI service that will call your parents for you so you don’t have to bother… “inTouch is a wonderful discovery for our family and for my dad. I particularly appreciate the smart notifications that inform me about his emotions. It helps me know when to talk to him or visit him.” Christ imagine basing when to visit your parents on an AI chatbot that detects negative sentiment Through the talks I've seen over the past few years, I've learnt so much about what's possible in CSS nowadays, learnt from others' stories and experiences, got inspired to stick popovers everywhere, levelled up my knowledge of web performance, and so much more. I've also made so many friends. You should go to conferences. https://localghost.dev/blog/you-should-go-to-conferences/ (Always open to suggestions of more conferences to add to the list in this post!)

@sophie Thank you for sharing! I've added both shops to the list of options on the website. Northern folks, Middlesbrough Frontend is on 17th July and there are still tickets available! I spoke there last year and it's a really really lovely community-run event, big recommend. https://middlesbroughfe.co.uk/

@sophie agree, i think the options here aren't great. we built a twine format to do this with for one client and still havn't had the resources to write it up! https://github.com/geeksforsocialchange/enquirywitch @sophie somewhere, a product manager is excitedly saying, "this form could be a chatbot!" And so goes, the ouroboros of software development. I was challenged to create Myspace-style glitter text with CSS. I created glitter text with CSS, SVG and a soupçon of JS: https://codepen.io/sophiekoonin/pen/oNJzvPE Trying to figure out if there's a way I can fit the inline size of the container to the svg text, so the sparkles don't get lost when you resize :/ |
@sophie Also we need to be ready to take them in, when the BS inevitably enshittifies itself.
@sophie It's like we all collectively forgot that monopolisation and concentrating all discussions in one app started all of this mess. Diversity is good and if we can make a way to communicate between platforms then it's even better.
@sophie
I'm glad I found this post.
What is the Fedi bridge? I ask out of simple curiosity 😁
