I love how beautiful lowtech requesting weather data from NOAA works. The US is doing weather right.

@neauoire At the center of the town, there's a memorial for people lost at sea. In the shrine, there's a Japanese fishing vessel that washed up on the Canadian shore. It drifted through the north pacific for a year and a half, and the folks of Prince Rupert fixed it up. Very glad to announce the first 72hr Collapsible writing sprint - The Collapsathon! Pls share widely. Let's do this! Huge thanks to the very talented Eltons for the flyer - made entirely in Blender! Check out his work at https://theycallmeelton.online Friends of ours on the sailboat Moonshine took this photo of us as we sailed out of Port McNeill, in Queen Charlotte Strait. We were on our way to Millbrook Cove, just around Cape Caution, on May 20th. It is very rare to have photos of Pino from afar, with full sails :)... During tinycodechristmas last year, someone showed me how to get halftones by using xor(x,y) so I could turn 4 colors into 4 colors and 3 inbetween halftones. It makes for drawing pictures in a 4 colors screens without dithering somewhat practical. I've been working on some slides for an upcoming talk and updated Adelie to render tga files with these extra half tones :mac:

They are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of “security.” And in the worship of security we fling our lives beneath the wheels of routine – and before we know it our lives are gone. Found in the R2AK faqs, that faqs goes hard https://paste.sr.ht/blob/74190685828f6586f063c46b061dda7d6ef8a92a @neauoire I thought to myself "these strike me as the words of someone who didn't actually have to struggle in the ways he idolizes" and turns out I'm right @neauoire finally made my first useful non-toy program in Forth. It's pretty satisfying, I think I'm grasping more and more what it is and it feels incredible. It's strange how it focuses you on simplifying the problem instead of giving you infinite tools to bloat and to feature creep everything. I've never felt that a tool guides my thought in a good way quite as much as with Forth. @dziban that's awesome! I'm glad to hear. Forth is a superpower. What did you make? does anyone here have experience with graphics programming in #commonlisp ? i cant find any up to date examples of how to just get a window up and running. I broke off Leg 3 in two, finally, just because it didn't show the same amount of detail as the other maps. @cblgh is the forum down for you too? Or, is it just our shitty internet For a few years now, I have kept my daily scribbles and volatile tasks using the classic Macintosh application Note Pad, it's a very simple program that does just about anything one might want from note taking apps. I haven't done any changes to it except:

@neauoire Croatia and Greece have a significant "cruising fee". Portugal and Spain have a lighthouse tax, but that one is just a few coins and actually goes towards maintaining navigation aids. So... @neauoire how do you get your passport stamped? Or do you simply not disembark onto land? |
@neauoire you made a much better version of my silly thing: https://smallandnearlysilent.com/inknswitch/
@neauoire how does it store the text & drawing data?
@neauoire is there a downloadable rom for Note Pad already? I wanna play with it! (:
