So our cushions are goners, they're so thin sitting on them compresses them into nil. And, building foam mattresses from scratch has this very weird thing where buying an already upholstered mattress is cheaper than buying foam, and fabric individually - And making your own. So we found a place that sells replacement cushions for lawn chairs and that sort of thing, and we'll just hack them into what we need. First, we'll add batting to them. @neauoire Huh, he's from Fayetteville, Arkansas. I've been there once, watching racoons eat trash and shit on car hoods. It's that kind of place. This is unexpectedly good. "When the oil runs out, who will still have seeds that can grow without it?" @neauoire i agree with realseeds, and i think it's entirely possible that i've ordered seeds from them, but why does their energy graph stop in 2009? A somewhat more up to date picture is: @neauoire will there be a point where the divide between complexity and ignorant measure to simplify will break how governance is setup? Elmet Brae has had nearly 15k plays in two days, and I've got a warning that we're running out of free plays. I'm not 100% sure to know what that means.. but if we can no longer stream it, I'll make a torrent of the album. If you're streaming the album off bandcamp, download the thing instead if you can.

@neauoire I haven't found an mp3 download link, only FLAC. Any chance mp3 will be available? Took the lifelines off Pino, we will replace them with dyneema soon. I found many cracks and broken strands, it's scary to think that these were what was supposed to keep up on deck if we had an accident while working topside.

@neauoire the nice thing about lifelines is they're not under exceptionally high tension and lashings give you quite a bit of margin so you don't need the super fancy heat set dyneema. the cheaper regular stuff will do. @neauoire Ouch. I had the same plastic covering on the standing rigging and the lifelines on Astragale. I removed them too when a more experienced neighbour told me about the risk of hidden corrosion. Thankfully it was early enough - and the previous owner had put a lot of grease inside the sheathing so it was dirty and sticky at removal but it probably helped protecting the lines! Reading through @rek's upcoming novel in which one of the tribes communicate their art and poems over long distances by whistling to each other, coming across these #Solresol passages in the book is really nice. Members of the Solresol community and I talked about the lack of useful example sentences in the language, and how the handful of examples out there often include mistakes, so we've put together a revised list of sentences that we could agree on. I'm so happy that we ended up aboard stuck in Japan during the beginning of Covid and not the tropics.. Wow, Mollymawk is blogging again, after a 3 years hiatus!

The Elmet Brae compilation has been released, and put up on Beldam Records with a beautiful cover by Rostiger, who also made the Varvara Zine. I've spared a few evenings to implement a Ulz encoder, for which my first attempt was nearly a year ago, and at the time, writing programs in Uxn that involved many nested loops terrified me. So, it felt great to revisit this old problem that stumped me before, and solve it. @neauoire Currently listening it while I write code. Pretty relaxing and inspiring. And I love the cover! First time surface air temperatures 2°C above preindustrial levels, on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18. @neauoire and as noted here by fellow Canadian Paul Beckwith, add +0.2 or +0.3C if your baseline is really pre-industrial (ie, 1750-1900) +1.5C is politicians bullshit @patchlore your track is totally nuts, I bet it fools everyone, it fooled me. It's really really nice, I love it when I have no idea how something is made, and this.. I can't even begin to figure that one out @neauoire @patchlore agree, it's amazing, i'm gonna listen to it on loop next time i ... ahem ... visit the mushroom forest I've created a thread on the lines forum for Helmet Brae, it would be nice if anyone with an account on there let me know so I can tag you all :maru:

@ritualdust can I just say that it's soo nice that our tracks ended up next to each other, each time the album gets to that point it takes a really nice gloomy turn. :moloch: A community compilation of soundscapes/ambient/noise/drone from Merveilles Town members and friends. https://orllewin.github.io/elmet_brae/EB01/ :merveilles:

If you've already downloaded the album, please download it again, because you're missing @helveticablanc's deep drone tale from the wormsong universe, which somehow was missed by our original excavation and has now been put in its rightful place among Elmet Brae. |
@neauoire
I thought it was a guide to using a theremin!
