Five years in the making, this hour-long documentary explores the uprising that swept Chile from October 2019 to March 2020, showing how everyday people sustained six months of rebellion by creating extensive networks of self-determination and mutual aid.
This is an inspiring portrayal of the tactics that gave demonstrators control of the streets, the organizing strategies that enabled the movement to act effectively while remaining leaderless, and the importance of time and space in revolt. It is also a cautionary tale about how the government used the promise of a new constitutional process to recover enough legitimacy to regain control. It chronicles a high point of action in a struggle that continues today.

Today, thousands of anti-fascists assembled around the UK to face down racist rallies. Most of the rallies never materialized.
Whenever fascists strike a blow, if we respond quickly and boldly, it offers an opportunity to draw more people into the struggle against capitalism, white supremacy, and the state. We must not let anyone imagine that the police will deal with fascists for us—on the contrary, they are a much greater threat to freedom than any group of ordinary racists.

Since 1853, France has been occupying the islands of New Caledonia against the wishes of the Indigenous Kanak people. In the 1870s, the French government exiled the anarchist Louise Michel and many other participants in the Paris Commune uprising there.
In 1878, the Kanaks revolted against French oppression. Ataï, one of the leaders of the revolt, achieved several victories against the occupiers. After he was finally betrayed, the French colonizers cut off his head and brought it back to Paris. They refused to return it until 2014.
Today, colonialism continues in New Caledonia. The French government has just sent 1200 more police officers there from Paris to suppress the latest uprising.
Like Louise Michel, we support Indigenous struggles against colonialism. Get France out of New Caledonia.

Today, Dmitry Petrov would have been 34 years old.
Dmitry organized against the autocratic government of Russia until he was forced to flee the country with the secret police looking for him. He traveled to Rojava and helped publish a series of books about the revolutionary experiment there, participated in uprisings in Ukraine and Belarus, organized a clandestine network to fight against Putin, and was finally killed last April fighting against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He always impressed us with his humility and courage.

In July 2023, some 5000 anarchists gathered in Saint-Imier, Switzerland for a week of events commemorating the anniversary of the establishment of the first international anti-authoritarian labor federation. Here, we explore that history and present a variety of accounts and appraisals from anarchists who came from around the world to participate this year.
@CrimethInc Such a long text and not a word about poor accessibility and the ableist, and ultimately even eugenicist way the gathering was organized, which prevented many immuno-compromised and chronically ill people from even attending. (the extra food line for mask wearers was a cynical joke. And the way you wrote about it is pure ableism. You wrote: "a special section for people who still want to use masks and maintain social distancing". "Want" is the absolute wrong word here, some of us "must" still wear masks, and if you need to keep "want" in there, we "must" wear them because not enough of you ableist assholes still "want" to wear them in oder to protect and include us).
And in your text there is not a mention of the anarcho-capitalist, conspiracist, right-wing libertarian bullshit that was present at the gathering. (At least one of the main organizers is a right wing libertarian, who was active in the anti-masker protests here).
But read bellow.
I was right to call the anarchist movement dead as a movement. And it has died in Saint-Imier in 2023.

In a new filing in federal court, the government of Atlanta aims to shut down even the possibility of a referendum on the police militarization facility known as Cop City, arguing that the citizens of the city have no right to break off the city government's contract with the Atlanta Police Foundation.
Ordinarily, democracy functions as a sort of theater in which the authorities manage people's perceptions of what the general public desires. In this case, however, the authorities in Atlanta are so determined to channel millions of dollars to the police that they are prepared to do without any illusions about democracy or anything like it.

Today we observe the birthday of Louise Michel—schoolteacher, poet, fiction author, and popularizer of the black flag as the symbol of anarchism.
In the article "Heroines of the Revolution," the daily paper of the Paris Commune described her thus: "An energetic woman is fighting in the ranks of the 61st battalion. She has killed several police officers."
Nonetheless, a square is named for her in Paris today.

Twenty years ago today, demonstrators attempted to shut down cities around the United States in response to George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq. In San Francisco, for example, anarchists and other protesters successfully blockaded the financial district while a black bloc attacked army recruiting stations. Police responded by arresting 2200 people in that city alone.
Had we succeeded in stopping the invasion of Iraq, we would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives—and likely prevented the rise of the Islamic State, among countless other tragedies. If we had fought harder, it would have been worth it, even if the consequences for us had been severe.
This is the poster we circulated to promote the day of action on March 20, 2003. Let us never underestimate the stakes of our struggles. 🏴

When Russian troops invaded #Ukraine a year ago, it took many people by surprise—especially Putin apologists, who had been insisting that reports about Russian military preparations were just saber-rattling from the United States government.
It didn't take us by surprise, because we had been corresponding with Russian and Ukrainian anarchists for years.
We still believe that it is most important to listen to anarchists from the region rather than commentators thousands of miles away.
For Russian anarchist perspectives, you could start here:

In response to the efforts of various fascists and billionaires to silence and isolate us, we present this poster in the romantic tradition of the first generation of CrimethInc. projects—a gesture of faith in the boundless possibilities that remain ahead of us and of determination to continue to build and rebuild the ties that connect us. Our collective predates the era of social media. We have lived through many waves of repression, many setbacks. Our enthusiasm remains undimmed.

Today, in grotesque mimicry of Trump's failed coup on January 6, 2021, far-right supporters of previous Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro invaded the National Congress in Brasilia.
Across the world, the far right and fascists are attempting to build the capacity to seize power by force.
Billionaires and their far-right supporters are attempting to gentrify the concept of revolt itself. We must not let them appropriate or discredit the idea of rebellion:

Elon Musk bought Twitter in order to suppress free speech and consolidate control of the spaces in which public discourse takes place, as a means to advance his authoritarian quest for profit and power. It's necessary to oppose him the way we would fight against any aspiring tyrant, any oppressor.

@CrimethInc The Twitter flight data ban personally installed by Elon after a suspected-fake incident, (and written by a non-Attorney if you haven’t yet), is tacitly helpful to Putin in the Ukraine conflict, which just ramped up Kviv attacks hours later.
For years, the FBI targeted ecological activists as their #1 priority. This is one of the chief reasons environmental devastation has continued unchecked.
Seventeen years ago today, on December 7, 2005, the FBI opened a new phase of its assault on earth and animal liberation movements with the arrests and indictments of a large number of activists. This became known as the Green Scare.

Right now, on Elon Musk's Twitter, the far-right troll who convinced him to block us is comparing us to ISIS, while Musk is still pretending to be a proponent of "free speech."
The comparison to ISIS is especially absurd, because some of our comrades died fighting ISIS while that particular troll's followers were murdering civilians in the US.
Likewise, Musk is not in favor of "free speech." He is banning accounts like ours at the same time that he reintroduces fascists to Twitter.
