This road sign has no business being so much more beautiful than the rest

I get it. It’s a fantasy universe

Clemens Nylandsted Klokmose

@nikitonsky hey it could be that there's vision pro like augmented reality stuff in that helmet!

The Summarize Notification setup screen summarizes Steve Jobs’ “Here’s to the Crazy Ones” to “A poem celebrates people who think differently”

But WHY? What are we even doing?

This font (and site) are so, so good! You don’t often see a pixel font with old-style numerals. departuremono.com/

@mwichary The site is not very good on the phone though. It not just doesn’t fit the screen. It clips content to avoid horizontal scroll. So I can’t even read all text.

Nextjs Conf has multiplayer cursors on their landing page. Am I a trend setter?

Maxi :coffeebeans: :comfyblobcat:

@nikitonsky I honestly prefer yours.

It's not as much "in your face" as Nextjs' colored bubbles and the first time I noticed the cursors on your site it was a memorable "oh this is cool" moment

Niki Tonsky

I appreciate the effort, but pretty sure dogs can’t read German. Should’ve gone with pictograms

Niki Tonsky

Turn a page of text with pictures into a page of text without pictures. How is this supposed to work?

Make a mistake — compiler deletes your source file

@nikitonsky that's even more brutal than TCR (test && commit || revert)

Quincy

@nikitonsky I hope this has been fixed in the meantime 😄

Huge Clojure Sublimed release. There has never been a better time to switch to Sublime github.com/tonsky/Clojure-Subl

Sander Dijkhuis

@nikitonsky Congrats! Version 2 already made me switch before. Now I just wish for a similar Common Lisp Sublimed…

Google is unbeatable in the art of creative HTML layouts

Mayank

@nikitonsky someone at google is slowly making their way through a flexbox tutorial, and they want you to know

Niki Tonsky

When you were putting a nice little signboard but then SUDDENLY a letter Y turned out but you forgot to leave space for descender so you turned Y into a letter with ascender instead

Niki Tonsky

This is how Figma messes things up with its UI3. They say more space is available for content. It’s not only false, the exact opposite is true. In addition, there is constant noisy flicker in the gaps on the sides. Bad UI from literally every point of view.

Niki Tonsky

@ilyabirman I remember people also refused to believe that dynamic island actually takes more space than notch, not less. Perception ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Niki Tonsky

Hot tip: We are getting very close to selling out of tickets for @heartofclojure I think there are like less than 20 left??

Probably time to bite the bullet if you were putting it off!

Can't wait to see you in Leuven! 💙💞💚

If I become president, I’ll send people to jail for these crimes:

— Outline on a font
— Non-proportionally scaled images
— Round checkboxes
— Grey/thin body font
— Scroll hijacking
— 100+ms animations
— Expiring sessions
— Letter-boxed videos

What’s on your list?

@nikitonsky For what? I wouldn't frame any of them purely for their artistic qualities, so there must be some other value, probably retaining a feeling/memory. And in that case it could swing either way, the first pic better matches a light and joyous evening town experience, the second one if the memories are about walking around at poorly illuminated night town

I love it so much!

Firefox has made it SO EASY to switch to Firefox from Chrome, that you dont even lose your OPEN TABS.

Have you got 34 open tabs lol? And you lost uBlock ad-blocker today? (You did, you lost your ad blocker, because Google)

You dont even lose open Tabs! (And you get to install uBlock)

Fancy that.

@kevinrns @satanskrapfen on the other hand you have now firefox collecting personal data from you in order to sell it to add-companys (PPA). 😤

@kevinrns Among other things, I'm a Web developer. In addition to Firefox, I have Chromium from the woolyss page installed (portable sync version with auto-updates). I use Chromium as my main browser. I have version 127.0.6533.120 installed at present and uBlock Origin is running fine. Unsure if the Manifest V2 deprecation is Chrome only, or if the Chromium builders are keeping it active, but it works.

chromium.woolyss.com

P.S. - I've been using these Chromium builds successfully for years.

Would YOU like to be a @heartofclojure Super Volunteer?

WE will refund your ticket, give you free drinks 🍹, gelato 🍦, and pizza 🍕, treat you like a king 👑, and be eternally grateful

YOU make some time in the next four weeks to help with some of the final preparations, and help out during one of the two days of the conference (the other day we leave you alone, pinky swear)!

(1/2)

Arne Brasseur

Heart of Clojure is organized by a very small team, and due to health and family reasons some of us have had less availability than expected, or even won't be able to be present during the conference at all. This means we're running on even more of a skeleton crew than anticipated, and with four weeks to go there's still a lot to do.

I really hope some folks in the community will step up so we can lighten the load. We've put our heart and soul into this event, now it's your turn.

Another thing that’s been irking me lately is the spotty availability of shows on streaming services. Oh, you want to watch [insert show]? We have Season 4, Season 7-10, Season 15-22. Of such Seasons, we have almost all the episodes, but not the specials. We don’t have the rights to Season 17, Episode 7. Seasons 1-3 are not available in your country. And so forth. Fuck this nonsense. I’m almost getting nostalgic for the classic pre-digital TV era.

Riccardo Mori

Also: we can only broadcast this show dubbed in Spanish with no original audio and no subtitles of any sort.

Also: this show that you started watching 2 months ago now isn’t available anymore because we probably forgot or didn’t want to renew the broadcasting rights.

Fuck you again.
