shoutout to @handle, @kawaiipunk and @squeakypancakes for moving https://sunbeam.city to a new server. was scary to have it down for as long as it took and super glad to see it back up and thriving! #sunbeamcity have to share this pic of @mai from their presentation at https://trust.support today that a friend shared in a group chat Are there *any* Mastodon clients (or Mastodon API clients for other parts of the fediverse) that have first class playback of remote federated PeerTube posts?  @liaizon i just tested and you seem to be able to both find and play peertube vids in firefish/calckey? not sure about clients for Masto servers tho, elk.zone could find but not play them (clicks through conveniently to home server, tho) The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands_Institute_for_Sound_and_Vision) has a #PeerTube instance up at https://peertube.beeldengeluid.nl that has over 7,000 public domain videos uploaded. You can also follow it @openbeelden from here and get lots of weird video content in your feed!  Thanks for posting that. I don't speak a word of dutch but have been watching a bunch of videos. It was recorded on the night of June 26, 2022 at Floating University." wow wtf, tumblr removed the ability to have custom domains on registrars other then their own, and if you use their registrar you can't do anything else with the domain cause they don't let you change DNS settings or use subdomains  Was sitting on a flixbus today trying to sketch out the bounds for what is and is not in place for a fediverse "dating" app. I dont think dating is really the right frame of reference but its the closest social phenomenon of apps mediating in person 1x1 meetings. the main thing that I came to the conclusion of is that the properties that I want from an "app" or service like this is not about federation or decentralization or open source, its about it being a commons without profit motive. How do we create infrastructure for apps to exist outside of this capitalist hell scape?    @liaizon I'm still trying to get rid of some SJ vouchers at a discount, in case it's relevant for you |
