Elmet Brae EB01, a :merveillesbg: community compilation of ambient soundscapes was released yesterday. You can download it here at Also: big thanks to @neauoire for finishing up my cover art when I didn't have the capacity to do so. :enso: @rostiger @neauoire Could someone please apply this patch so the links work on Netsurf? I would have made a PR but Github's mandatory 2FA crap means I can't log in. 🙃 ps.: W3C validator marks the current usage of <button> as an error, so it's not surprising that it's borked. I've been incredibly fortunate to be able to participate in a three day sailing training last week. And I learned so much, not only sailing practice and theory, but also about basic meterology and oceanography, reading and analysing weather forecasts, anchoring, provisioning for passages and more. It was amazing!

@rostiger multi-day sailing is a totally different thing, I'm happy you got to experience it! I cannot overstate how awesome it is to be part of a community-run cropshare project.

Re-learned the clove hitch (or webeleinstek in German), an ancient and simple knot to secure a piece of rope using two hitches. We used it aboard to secure the fenders to the railings.

This and the bowline are the two knots were burned into my memory in boyscouts growing up. Over the years I have relearned other knots I learned and forgot and just plain forgotten many others... but the clovehitch and bowline are so beautiful and useful that they just refuse to be forgotten in my head. Though.... I can really only tie a bowline with the one handed method with the loop around your body (I think this was a sailor's OG form of a life preserver?). Returned from a three day sailing training in Croatia yesterday. I've learned and ton about docking and casting off at different winds, anchoring and mooring and a whole lot of basic practice. ⛵ Nintendo closed the eshop for Wii U titles this march. With the closure, the first large game I worked on with Broken Rules is disappearing in the digital ether. Chasing Aurora: 2011 - 2023. @rostiger Oh wow, I didn't realize it never shipped for anything else! I did enjoy the game on Wii U and will hold on to its bytes as long as Nintendo lets me I'm compiling a list of initiatives working towards building infrastructure that can exist outside of capitalistic structures. If you know of any organizations that fit the description, please add them to the list! Boosts appreciated. https://cryptpad.fr/code/#/2/code/edit/ImihQJko6d1Jk2hsFks9b5lT/ @rostiger i think my work fits in here, still trying to work through explaining it all, but my intention is very much to enable alternative local cooperative economies and foster a global information commons http://coalescent.computer Crossed the mountains and arrived at Lake Constance, the most western area of Austria today. I finally found someone who was able to fix my old Macbook from 2012 and now it's happily running Linux! Updated the list of alternatives including search engines and online collaborations: scim, my little utliity for scanning from the command line can now also crop images. #theWorkshop Finally got myself some beefy SD Cards with incredulous reading speeds. Next step: wikipedia on an sd card! I got enough space to store Wikipedia, Wikimedia, all of IFixIt, Wikihow, Archwiki and a bunch of others. The Kiwix library is a real treasure trove! |
