"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." #changeTheWorld

@dansup the spirit of Silicon Valley - made this photo at the 49‘ers Stadium where exactly this phrase is presented! ❤️ "That this world that we imagine in this room might be used to gain access to other rooms, to other worlds, previously unimaginable" I've heard that in Burials 'Come Down to Us' song many times and today I looked up the reference. Its from Lana Wachowski's HRC Award speech. She is known for directing the Matrix movies with her sister! You should watch her speech, its quite powerful. Correction: She is known for directing the Matrix movies with her sister Lily! * I apologize for misgendering her, I was not aware of that when I made this post. @dansup what a great speech. Thanks for sharing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard her speak before, I’ve only heard how guarded the Wachowski sisters are of their privacy. She’s very impressive! And very sweet. Imposter syndrome is real. You just have to work through it and eventually you will see the truth. If you know anyone working on an ActivityPub project and they need any advice/feedback/help or want to spread the word, tell them to DM me! I am more than willing to help or spread awareness! #activitypub #fediverse

@dansup Did you write all the ActivityPub code in Pixelfed from scratch? I'm a #php #symfony dev just getting into the fediverse / ActivityPub and I was looking to see if there were any ActivityPub php/symfony implementations available as composer packages, and I was having a look at your code on github 👀 @dansup have any camera/photographic clubs looked at Pixelfed? I wonder what if any features would make it a handy tool for camera club websites? Some of them for instance handling subscriptions and keeping a calendar, must be best managed by integration with other tools, I'd think. @dansup it feels like your being unfairly harsh on Gitlab because (guessing) your next ActivityPub project is going to be a federated code platform.

You know whats awesome about the fediverse? Developers working together. This isn't a competition. Everyone wins. @dansup @ramskulls ayes, gargron whose block some security and privacy features because he doesn’t give a shit. Working together between bros. Getting to know the #gnusocial internals was fun. I managed to get composer autoloading (PSR-4), active orm and a cli pysch powered REPL. I think it would be easier to start from scratch than bring gnusocial into the modern php era. As much as I love gnusocial, I can see why mastodon exists. I submitted a timing fix pull request over 2 weeks ago and still nothing! https://git.gnu.io/gnu/gnu-social/merge_requests/158 Oh you sweet summer child, *glances at years old pixelfed PRs* It's easy to criticize until you're on the other side, I was pretty harsh to mmo back then and looking back I feel bad. This did lead me to start @pixelfed 2 weeks later It was a combination of this and a promise I made to myself at my grandpas funeral a few weeks prior, I wanted to do or start something that would make him proud. I like to think he's proud of me ❤️ @dansup GNU social will become the social media's GNU/Hurd... In Brazil FLOSS Community there was a joke that said we would play Duke Nukem Forever on GNU/Hurd while hearing Chinese Democracy 7 years bro, never imagined how far this first toot would take me Thanks Frank Ocean, Pixelfed wouldn't exist without this happenstance "We'll let you guys prophesy |
