Apologizes for excessive data usage on Loops, the issue was identified (a few large unoptimized videos in the feed), We have temporarily disabled them until they are properly optimized and reduced from 70MB each, and we shipped an updated to the backend to prevent this from happening.  @dansup hey, since You are mentioning data usage, I have a question, out of curiosity - how do You plan to maintain data storage in terms of costs? from the number of new videos I see every time I open the app, I assume that amount of data sent since yesterday was enormous and will become much, much bigger in upcoming days, You are going to be bankrupt if You are paying by Yourself to store all of this... 😅 Blocks are now applied to your feeds, removing all videos from those accounts. The next update will allow you to view accounts you blocked, and unblock them.

 @dansup@mastodon.social @loops@pixelfed.social I might actually use loops whereas I'm not interested in TikTok or most of those corporate sites. Reminder for everyone to support dansup and other FOSS devs IF you can afford it. It's shocking that the creator of pixelfed and loops still needs to work another job.

    @dansup I think when your day job becomes something that is a necessary chore, having to be undertaken to survive life, - BUT, something to get out of the way, so that you can get on with your 'real work' - indicates that you've found your purpose in life and the reason for your own existence. And your existence is making a real difference. All that time and energy you put into pixelfed and loops, when you could have been watching netflix or playing playstation. Massive respect Dan, always X Loops iOS users: We decided not to enrol all users into the TestFlight, rather make it opt-in so there isn't any wasted seats (by Android users). That is unfortunate. @dansup I’m still waiting for the TestFlight invite, is it possible I’ve missed something? I will be looking for moderators to help with Loops.video, will post more details on discord! Loops.video is back, please report any questionable content and we are working to fix the block enforcement bugs. We have deleted a few accounts that violated our community guidelines.

 @dansup I created an account just now, but I received no email. When I try to login, it says that my account doesn't exist. When I try to recreate it, it says that this username and email address already exist. Could you please make it so I get the email so my account gets activated? It's the username and email address I want to use, you see... There's no way to ask the system to re-send the activation email.  @dansup It must be really hard to deal with all the teething problems, even without that bastard uploading porn. Hopefully, you can get a few people together to help with moderation, and Loops will surely be highly popular once it's ready for release. You're doing great. @dansup Have you noticed the excessive amount of NSFW that was a while ago before the service was offline? Please, I hope you will consider integrating something like content warnings or better tools to filter out the content we don’t want to see.
