Me: "#Frankenstein ... wow, what a monster."
Them: "That's a popular misconception, Frankenstein was the scientist."
Me: "That's a popular misconception. Frankenstein was the classic #techbro who didn't give a damn about the consequences of what he did and ignored all common ethical considerations. By all reasonable modern-day measures he was indeed the damn monster."
My little bit of self-indulgence from my yearly bonus (rest is going towards stuff around the new house) was to finally invest in DxO PhotoLab (Elite). Came with ability to activate on three computers, so that's a good extra. Auto-mode on DxO is brilliant, and it was great to run these photos of Cino through it. Miss this little bugger so much. #CatsOfMastodon
Two of my happiest photos of Cino. He was maybe 2-3 years olds at the time and "mousie" was his favourite toy – ever. The funny thing was that mum had bought Mousie for Stitch, and Stitch had done the classic Stitch thing and shoved Mousie behind a cupboard within 20 minutes. A year or so after we got Cino, we had to move the cupboard and re-discovered Mousie, which we threw across the room and Cino bounded after it to grab it. From that day on, Mousie and Cino were inseparable for years – no matter how many times we had to patch up poor old Mousie.
Cino would do this gorgeous game where he would position Mousie on the floor, then position himself in front of Mousie, facing away. He'd sit down, being "surprised" by Mousie ending up underneath him – to which he'd spin around and smack Mousie across the floor. It was always joyous to watch.

People briefly interrupting access to artwork to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Great stuff.
People interrupting traffic to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Nice!
People disrupting annual general meetings to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Excellent.
People briefly halting sporting events to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Awesome.
People heckling politicians in parliaments and on the street to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Fucking awesome.
If you think any of these things are disruptive or too much of an inconvenience for you, wait until disruptions caused by climate change start really hitting you. Then you’ll find yourself reminiscing about that simpler time when Olivia and Randal glued themselves to a pedestrian crossing and delayed you getting to work by almost half an hour.

@backupbear I hope #GeneralStrike to protest #ClimateCrisis inaction (among other issues) doesn't inconvenience to poor dears too badly, because it *will* happen.
@backupbear@aus.social Is blocking others really so nice? How many times have you been blocked? Hope it will not happen to an ambulance or fire brigade once you will need them :(
@backupbear
While I agree with you, please consider some people using the roads are seeking medical care or responding to other issues such as daycares closing and charging extremely high late fees to hard working families. While it is true the hardships will be worse with climate change some methods are causing immediate and actual harm to people.
@backupbear He was absolutely wracked with guilt and made it his life’s mission to hunt down his creation…

@backupbear On old saying I'm fond of: Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein IS the monster.
