People briefly interrupting access to artwork to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Great stuff.

People interrupting traffic to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Nice!

People disrupting annual general meetings to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Excellent.

People briefly halting sporting events to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Awesome.

People heckling politicians in parliaments and on the street to protest #ClimateChange inaction? Fucking awesome.

If you think any of these things are disruptive or too much of an inconvenience for you, wait until disruptions caused by climate change start really hitting you. Then you’ll find yourself reminiscing about that simpler time when Olivia and Randal glued themselves to a pedestrian crossing and delayed you getting to work by almost half an hour.

@backupbear There was footage on the news the other night from Dublin, with some guy just casually walking up to a police car, opening the back door, tossing a lit Molotov inside, and closing the door again. I don’t think that disrupted anything at all.

I'm sorry, that protest was nothing to do with climate change. Not one iota.

It was racists destroying the town centre and threatening everyone who weren't them.

They burned public transport including buses and trams and nicked a bunch of runners from Footlocker.

And it wasn't a protest either. It was a riot. They showed up with crowbars, fireworks and knuckle dusters. They never intended anything other than to cause danger to life and property

@GracelessHippo The OP is an Australian and I don't think he's talking about what you're talking about.

@backupbear I hope #GeneralStrike to protest #ClimateCrisis inaction (among other issues) doesn't inconvenience to poor dears too badly, because it *will* happen.

@backupbear@aus.social Is blocking others really so nice? How many times have you been blocked? Hope it will not happen to an ambulance or fire brigade once you will need them :(

While I agree with you, please consider some people using the roads are seeking medical care or responding to other issues such as daycares closing and charging extremely high late fees to hard working families. While it is true the hardships will be worse with climate change some methods are causing immediate and actual harm to people.

Biggles

@Adventurer @backupbear yes it's awful and terrible and equally as bad as pacific island nations vanishing under the waves, or much more powerful and frequent tropical storms killing more people more often.

Get some perspective. Or is it your opinion that one Aussie's life is worth the loss an entire island nation?
