Every Door OSM Editor

5.0-beta1 is out! Finally I see E-P for estonian opening hours :)

github.com/Zverik/every_door/r

Please test the drawing mode! See the wiki page with instructions for other editors: wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Ge

Expect the production release next week! I'll try making a short video on using the new mode properly.

@everydoor Had to look this up, but I guess it's "esmaspäev" for Monday.

What's P? At least Google Translate gives "reede[l]" for Friday.

I've seen @everydoor mentioned a few times since I started mapping, but it always looked confusing (from the screenshots, etc. I saw).

But now that I've read Ilya's "How to use..." blog post (openstreetmap.org/user/Zverik/) and watched some of his videos about #EveryDoor (redirect.invidious.io/channel/), I think I'm going to start using it instead of #StreetComplete now.

@normplum @everydoor I haven't tried SC new Things overlay but EveryDoor is my favorite app to add more POIs to the map :) also he also has an account here @zverik :)

Fun fact about @organicmaps? It can do public transport navigation with the Beijing Subway, that Google Maps can't.

The time are still very off compared to local mapping apps, but it does work and if you don't care much about having exact times for arrival, it is worth using.

Oh and if you need to buy tickets, just point people to the name of the subway station on the map, they'll manage :)

Omg I finally closed the issue, the walking papers mode is 100% operational! Looking to release version 5.0 the first week of May!

Could anyone help me with getting the layer into iD? github.com/openstreetmap/iD/is

A JOSM plugin would be nice too, since WMS is not the best way to read labels.

Screenshot of Every Door, "notes" mode. 10 drawing type buttons are visible (road, footway, wall etc), and three action buttons: lock, free draw, eraser. On the background there is a grayed out satellite map, on which a few red lines are visible, and there's a note "wow this works".

Also open to suggestions on replacing "Cycle lane" with something more useful. Maybe parking?..

@everydoor did you see github.com/facebook/Rapid/pull. Looks like a similar idea. Update: I see the reference to your iD ticket now in github.com/facebook/Rapid/issu.

On Saturday I've finally added a drawing mode chooser, and went on a 60 km bicycle ride to test it. This is... next level amateur mapping. I cannot describe how liberating drawing a map with your finger feels. At home, I open JOSM and see all this ready for tracing. Walking papers are making a comeback in Every Door version 5.0.

Screenshot of Every Door with the Notes mode. On top of aerieal imagery, some colored lines are drawn, depicting roads, footways, and streams. There's a bridge marked with a note "made of wood".

If you want, a testing build is at github.com/Zverik/every_door/a . Incredibly janky, deletion does not work properly, but already usable for mapping.

In JOSM, look for "GeoScribble" imagery layer (labels are not yet rendered). You can also browse scribbles at geoscribble.osmz.ru/#18/59.326

@everydoor Looks exciting although I'm gonna wait for the full release so its not as janky

@everydoor This is a great addition. I had been doing something like this on my own by screenshotting my map app and then drawing on it with the Gallery editor, and it was not great to try to transcribe that to a desktop editor.

Every Door 4.1 is available on Google Play and AppStore, soon on F-Droid and Huawei AppGallery.

It's a small bugfix release, focused on updating default card payment options (now the same as in @streetcomplete) and fixing capitalization in description fields.

Wanted to get it out before I return my work MacBook. Most likely iOS won't see updates for a few months: would need a new one to build releases.

Every Door is now available on Huawei AppGallery: appgallery.huawei.com/app/C109

Since Huawei isn't friends with Google, its users have to use a Chinese app store. Happy to be represented there finally!

Huge thanks to @reinhart for volunteering to maintain the package! Here's how he did it: reinhart1010.id/blog/2023/10/1

Every Door 4.0 is out! Just for iOS — Google and F-Droid are being reviewed and will follow in a few days. (upd: GPlay up!)

Bing imagery is back; there are new card payment settings (moved from the settings pane to the payment field, will make a tutorial later); and you don't need to tap "shift" to capitalize every word in names anymore.

See github.com/Zverik/every_door/r for the list of all changes.

Google Play release is up as well! See the download buttons on every-door.app/

Beta release of Every Door 4.0 is out! Android apk can be downloaded at github.com/Zverik/every_door/r

iOS TestFlight beta expected tomorrow.

Bing imagery layer works again, also hopefully the GPS w/o Google Services issue has been fixed.

There are ten new strings to translate, please help with that: hosted.weblate.org/projects/ev

Finally added the @fdroidorg button to the official website every-door.app/ (and links to twitter and mastodon accounts).

Every Door OSM Editor

Following the twitter.com/EveryDoorOSM we now have a Mastodon account! Different content, same wonderful editor!

(Also, 3.2 beta planned for this week with working Bing imagery and improved GPS handling).

@everydoor

Can I find a preset in one of the next updates here that shows me the actual date?
Then I would pay attention to that more often.
