MNT Rack Reform rough prototyping. the unpopulated volume can be used for a GPU or disks and/or UPS batteries and/or fan. now available in black and purple (and caseless for the MNT Reform laptop): the new MNT Reform Keyboard 3.0 (open hardware) with traditional stagger and convex space bars. https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-reform-keyboard-30 rev2 of the LS1028A module for MNT Reform had bad footprints for level shifters for some things like UART, so it needed some surgery to get going. but otherwise it works very well in my tests, incl. PCIe, SATA and Ethernet. we need to spin it one more time to be production ready, but with some fixes it already feels like a base for a nice little open hardware pc/laptop. built uxn on Pocket Reform to try out Oquonie by 100rabbits! more info: https://hundredrabbits.itch.io/oquonie yup, it's a good device to get some distraction-free writing done (ok, except for posting here with my phone)

@mntmn Do you find the glossy screen hard to use at all? This past week I was doing some stuff outside on my Macbook with a glossy screen, and (aside from it being too bright) the glossy screen caused some readability issues. and we are live!! you can back the MNT Pocket Reform (open hardware 7" mini laptop) campaign now: https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/pocket-reform and we are very thankful for spreading the word!

@mntmn For those of us who are local, is there any way to back that doesn't result in our devices being shipped to the US then back to Europe? recently prof. dr.-ing. volker roth (fu berlin) bumped into me and told me he has 3 urgent research job offers around open-source secure phone development using parallax propeller chips (electronics, cryptography, low level programming, dsp, hci, ...). for more info grep "sitel" here and i also have a PDF and text file: https://www.fu-berlin.de/universitaet/beruf-karriere/jobs/english/index.html

@mntmn Looks awesome! Does the USB type C's support DP alt mode? Then it would just be a single cable to hook up to full-size monitor, keyboard, etc. an MNT Reform customer in the US was able to get an industrial repair company to fix their damaged laptop on the board level independently using only the public documentation for <$280. @mntmn For the next time I inevitably break something, where was this shop? Lot easier/cheaper than shipping it back to y'all in Germany 😅 Status Update on LS1028A Open Hardware CPU Module https://mntre.com/media/reform_md/2022-07-25-ls1028a-status-update.html @mntmn wow, this laptop looks really cool. I would love to see some benchmark and definetly would replace my thinkpad with this laptop :jamona-love:
