rev2 of the LS1028A module for MNT Reform had bad footprints for level shifters for some things like UART, so it needed some surgery to get going. but otherwise it works very well in my tests, incl. PCIe, SATA and Ethernet. we need to spin it one more time to be production ready, but with some fixes it already feels like a base for a nice little open hardware pc/laptop.

@mntmn Do you find the glossy screen hard to use at all? This past week I was doing some stuff outside on my Macbook with a glossy screen, and (aside from it being too bright) the glossy screen caused some readability issues.

@mntmn nice! One thing through... the keyboard on these kind of machines is always to compact to include local letters for languages like Danish, making them close to useless (there's an å next to Å and æø next to L on my keyboard). So, please, just one more column of keys..

@mntmn For those of us who are local, is there any way to back that doesn't result in our devices being shipped to the US then back to Europe?

Oh that is exciting.

Any chance this will work on the pocket reform as well?

@mntmn @bluerise Ок, в общем в чем преимущества BSD? Более отказоустойчивая! Разность подходов? Для спец нужд....

@mntmn Looks awesome! Does the USB type C's support DP alt mode? Then it would just be a single cable to hook up to full-size monitor, keyboard, etc.

an MNT Reform customer in the US was able to get an industrial repair company to fix their damaged laptop on the board level independently using only the public documentation for <$280.

spooky blip 👻

@mntmn For the next time I inevitably break something, where was this shop? Lot easier/cheaper than shipping it back to y'all in Germany 😅

@mntmn wow, this laptop looks really cool. I would love to see some benchmark and definetly would replace my thinkpad with this laptop :jamona-love:
