Firefox 130 is bringing a game-changing feature: automatic alt-text generation for images using a fully private on-device AI model! 🙌🏾 Initially available in the built-in PDF editor, our aim is to extend this to general browsing for screen reader users. https://hacks.mozilla.org/2024/05/experimenting-with-local-alt-text-generation-in-firefox-nightly/

@mozilla This is good, but I feel like this shouldn't be a long term solution. Instead we should be pushing websites to serve alt text, especially since HTML already has support for it. @mozilla This a good and well done use of AI. It may be particularly useful for posting images on mastodon and fediverse in general. It’s official: more than 400 new extensions are now available on Firefox for Android 🔥 https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/new-extensions-youll-love-now-available-on-firefox-for-android/

@mozilla Last year we announced we would be joining Mastodon to explore an alternative to today's social media. We’re excited to announce we’re expanding Mozilla.social to a private beta, with hopes to open to the public soon. This is just the beginning. Read more about the launch of our instance, including how to join the public waitlist. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-social-mastodon-private-beta-announcement/

@mozilla you should also drop out of your browser business. Seems, you're not worthy to be part of a trusted, open minded society. Say, do you also support Trump like Musk, since you fell back to it's lap?
@mozilla well this sucks.
As a long time fan of @mozilla, it's becoming hard to respect or recommend any of your products. Seems like most get discontinued or abandoned.
Please, pick a product direction and _stick_ to it.
@mozilla Are you *actually* telling us that you, Mozilla, one of the largest FOSS companies in the world, can't afford to host a server for 270 MAU?
Very big L, Mozilla.
