 @yurnidiot I love the moment he looks at the top of the trash can, looks at how much closer it it to the top of the gate, then decides, "Nah, gonna bounce a few more times."  @yurnidiot alternet interpretation: the cat knew about the gap all along, but you just can't help but wonder *what if*...

Fred can jump close to 5 foot flat footed with no bounce and heโs a giant Norwegian forest cat my best friends cat is a tiny beautiful little thing and she can do 6 foot without even battting an eyelash.  As I understand it, cats either learn to jump during an early developmental window, or they donโt ever really learn. For example, rescue cats that spend that age in a shelter may not learn to jump. We have a non-jumper now, but previously had a cat that no baby gate could contain (and no way she was fitting through the bars!) I hope these folks bought that gate for a baby or a dog. @JMMaok @yurnidiot Interesting. I find it odd that as their environment changes & includes more opportunities to jump with the rewards it often entails, that they wouldnโt adapt. Maybe not be thrilled but certainly skilled. If only he knew what he was missing! Anything above about waist high might as well be the astral plane. A bird flew in a window & he flat footed a 5โ leap to catch it.
