@yurnidiot math (it's just some variation of multiplication again)

@yurnidiot I love the moment he looks at the top of the trash can, looks at how much closer it it to the top of the gate, then decides, "Nah, gonna bounce a few more times."

@yurnidiot alternet interpretation: the cat knew about the gap all along, but you just can't help but wonder *what if*...

@yurnidiot the clip stops right when the cat turns around to check if it can get a better jump at it from the other side

@yurnidiot LoL itโ€™s funny but what cat canโ€™t jump that? Fred can jump close to 5 foot flat footed with no bounce and heโ€™s a giant Norwegian forest cat my best friends cat is a tiny beautiful little thing and she can do 6 foot without even battting an eyelash.

@Pineywoozle @yurnidiot

As I understand it, cats either learn to jump during an early developmental window, or they donโ€™t ever really learn. For example, rescue cats that spend that age in a shelter may not learn to jump. We have a non-jumper now, but previously had a cat that no baby gate could contain (and no way she was fitting through the bars!)

I hope these folks bought that gate for a baby or a dog.

@JMMaok @yurnidiot Interesting. I find it odd that as their environment changes & includes more opportunities to jump with the rewards it often entails, that they wouldnโ€™t adapt. Maybe not be thrilled but certainly skilled.

If only he knew what he was missing! Anything above about waist high might as well be the astral plane. Tables, countertops, the legend of the top of the fridge โ€ฆ

@JMMaok @yurnidiot ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ Too funny. Fred can jump but heโ€™s a biggun & Iโ€™m sooo glad he doesnโ€™t bother w/ countertops. A bird flew in a window & he flat footed a 5โ€™ leap to catch it. Lucky for the bird heโ€™s a soft mouth, & all the little presents he brings us are still wriggling๐Ÿ˜œ (I took the very shook bird outside & watched to make sure he was OK ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘) This is Fred worshiping at the magic window that once gave him a bird. #FredTheWonderCat #CatsOfMastodon #Cats

Fed our very large, very fluffy cat,staring hopefully out the window.

@Pineywoozle @yurnidiot sometimes a cat don't like to jump..it is cat.... mystic

@pineywoozle (s) for HARRIS

@Trepur @yurnidiot I Thanks theyโ€™re just pretending they donโ€™t like to jump so that when something high gets knocked off, you donโ€™t blame them. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜œ

@yurnidiot But you have to prove it to yourself by doing lengthy catculations. (Itโ€™s me, Iโ€™m the cat)

To be clear, this was actually a test to see if the human filming would open the gate. They failed.

@yurnidiot I don't know a software developer who won't be able to relate to this.
