 As I understand it, cats either learn to jump during an early developmental window, or they don’t ever really learn. For example, rescue cats that spend that age in a shelter may not learn to jump. We have a non-jumper now, but previously had a cat that no baby gate could contain (and no way she was fitting through the bars!) I hope these folks bought that gate for a baby or a dog. 3 comments

Fred can jump but he’s a biggun & I’m sooo glad he doesn’t bother w/ countertops. A bird flew in a window & he flat footed a 5’ leap to catch it. @JMMaok @yurnidiot Interesting. I find it odd that as their environment changes & includes more opportunities to jump with the rewards it often entails, that they wouldn’t adapt. Maybe not be thrilled but certainly skilled.
