As I understand it, cats either learn to jump during an early developmental window, or they don’t ever really learn. For example, rescue cats that spend that age in a shelter may not learn to jump. We have a non-jumper now, but previously had a cat that no baby gate could contain (and no way she was fitting through the bars!)

I hope these folks bought that gate for a baby or a dog.

@JMMaok @yurnidiot Interesting. I find it odd that as their environment changes & includes more opportunities to jump with the rewards it often entails, that they wouldn’t adapt. Maybe not be thrilled but certainly skilled.

If only he knew what he was missing! Anything above about waist high might as well be the astral plane. Tables, countertops, the legend of the top of the fridge …

@JMMaok @yurnidiot 🤣🤣🤣 Too funny. Fred can jump but he’s a biggun & I’m sooo glad he doesn’t bother w/ countertops. A bird flew in a window & he flat footed a 5’ leap to catch it. Lucky for the bird he’s a soft mouth, & all the little presents he brings us are still wriggling😜 (I took the very shook bird outside & watched to make sure he was OK 🥰👍) This is Fred worshiping at the magic window that once gave him a bird. #FredTheWonderCat #CatsOfMastodon #Cats
