Try something like getActivity().getDecorView().setSystemUiVisibility(getActivity().getDecorView().getSystemUiVisibility() | View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LAYOUT_FULLSCREEN | View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LAYOUT_STABLE);
Also check that you are handling the window insets correctly if you override fitSystemWindows and/or onApplyWindowInsets.
