Twr Mawr Lighthouse - Ynys Llanddwyn (island of the blessed), Anglesey

Taken just over an hour before sunset.

A white painted lighthouse stands on top of a rocky hill. Behind it the sea crashes against the rocks creating lots of white water. The clouds are broken and there is some blue sky visible. The sun is setting to the right of the frame creating shadows and giving the elements in the sun a warm yellow hue

@Makarand on the day I took the photo the wind was so strong I could barely hold the camera still. I was glad to get back to the shelter of my van.

It's a beautiful place and I hope to return on a sunny evening.

@pgaskell Beautiful. I love it there. Ynys Llanddwyn means "Island of the Church of Dwynwen". Or more accurately, llan means a sacred enclosure as eglwys is church.

@druid thanks for the correction, not being a Welsh speaker I got the name from the sign that tells you about the island on the main path. I hadn't noticed but that refers to the island as Ynys Y Bendigaid rather than Llanddwyn. Just spotted the difference when I checked the photo I took of the sign.
