Grasmere Bench

I was heading back to the car as it was starting to rain. I spotted this bench as I hurried past. I decided to head back and grab this shot.

I've actually been back a few times to try to better it, but each time the conditions just haven't been as good.

A picture of a lakeside bench on a wet morning. A path leads towards the bench covered in fallen leaves. To the side of the path is a moss covered dry stone wall which obscures part of the bench from view. Behind the bench the lake is calm apart from raindrops, visible on the water. To either side of the bench are trees.

@pgaskell What a lovely shot. I’d love to come back there.

Coniston Jetty in Blue

Took this shot before sunrise during the blue hour.

I'd hoped for more atmospheric conditions at sunrise but despite the forecast the weather was blue skies and became relatively mist free.

A new location, that I will revisit with different conditions.

A wooden jetty runs out into a calm mirror like lake. The jetty is covered in a slight frost. The picture has a blue hue as the sun is yet to rise. On the left bank of the lake there is a slight mist.

@pgaskell A lovely photo, blue hour is amazing and restful.
If I’m up at 7 I’ll sit without the light on and drink my first coffee of the day, marvelling at blue hour.

Borrowdale Watermill - near Honistor Pass

This one takes a bit of finding and when the stream is a full as this it involves getting wet feet to get the right composition.

#landscapephotography #silentsunday #photography #fotoMontag #photomonday

A stone built watermill stands beside a fast flowing stream. The stream is covered by autumnal trees. The water in the stream is slightly blurred by a long exposure as it cascades over rocks.

Duke of Portland Boathouse - Ullswater

Another from yesterday. A location that will need another visit as the light/conditions weren't as good as they could be.

I'm glad I got autumn colour though.

A stone built boathouse with a wooden balcony nestles into the shoreline surrounded by autumnal trees. The lake's water is relatively calm and the view down the lake can be seen. In the background mountains can be made out through the distant mist althought their tops are shrouded by low cloud.

Snow covered Langdales from Blea Tarn

I took this on Thursday, the snow cover took me by surprise. A heavy shower had just moved across the Langdale fells and then the sun came out - it took me a moment to realise that the reason the mountains were so bright was because of the snow.

In the foreground there is a calm lakeland tarn (small lake) with autumnal trees to the right. In the background of the picture snow covered mountains can be seen lit up under a patch of blue sky whilst the rest of the sky is cloudy.

@pgaskell Blea Tarn is one of my favourite places. I really should get organised and go and visit my friends in Windermere!

Horses in the late afternoon sun.

Took these earlier today, very close to home. I spotted these two horses amongst the trees just as the sun was gettng low in the sky.

Two horses graze amoungst the trees. The autumn leaves are lit up by the setting sun.

Fine weather for ducks - Grasmere, English Lake District

A lone duck swims out towards the centre of a lake leaving ripples in it's wake. The weather is raining with mist hanging over trees on the far side of the lake. A white house can be seen on the far side of the lake with a noticable light in one of the windows. Behind the house a mountain fell (Holme Fell) can be made out through the mist.

@pgaskell @sharongascoigne I would enjoy resting there for awhile, instead I’ll let my mind rest there for a few moments looking at this photo. Thank you.

Twr Mawr Lighthouse - Ynys Llanddwyn (island of the blessed), Anglesey

Taken just over an hour before sunset.

#meermittwoch #photography #Wales

A white painted lighthouse stands on top of a rocky hill. Behind it the sea crashes against the rocks creating lots of white water. The clouds are broken and there is some blue sky visible. The sun is setting to the right of the frame creating shadows and giving the elements in the sun a warm yellow hue

@pgaskell Lovely capture! Gotta love the time around and during the golden hour!

@pgaskell Beautiful. I love it there. Ynys Llanddwyn means "Island of the Church of Dwynwen". Or more accurately, llan means a sacred enclosure as eglwys is church.
