@gicrisf @MastodonEngineering is this similar to #phanpy, where it is easy to see complex conversation flow @tshepang @gicrisf @MastodonEngineering Not quite unfortunately, it helps keep track of direct replies to people but it doesn't nest, so I don't think it's that useful honestly. @mattswift @tshepang @MastodonEngineering I think it will be like the bird site. It doesn't nest, but it helps following the threads, visually. I always missed this feature on here @gicrisf @tshepang @MastodonEngineering I've never been on Twitter so I don't really know how it works there. The lines do help a little, but nesting more similar to Reddit or other Fediverse software (such as Firefish) is much more ideal I think, as it's even easier to follow conversations then. I added a small example image from a Firefish reply section to show you what I mean. Coming soon in #Mastodon v4.2.0: 👀 3rd-party JavaScript spyware loaded without users' consent. @KuJoe because the BDFL insists on running and growing a server that shouldn't exist. @KuJoe Do users have any control over that? No. Enough trolling; enjoy your block. I guess my legitimate question about how software I've never used works was too much? Oh well, that basically tells me all I need to know about this claim. @downey @MastodonEngineering I thought hCaptcha was the good one. Disappointing. Adblockers will always be a necessity. It is the lesser worst one. Exchanging Google for Cloudflare big tech. @smallcircles @lasombra @downey @MastodonEngineering Global spyware vs global MITM. Hmm. what to chose? @downey @MastodonEngineering weird that they went for a proprietary solution instead of something like mosparo @downey @MastodonEngineering but it's true we could argue about DeepL translation feature too, if we take this as we take it. @MastodonEngineering what does this mean exactly? Do I need to make changes to my Streaming servers to make them work or do I need to drop down to one server? "Drops built-in clustering support from the streaming server" Yay! Useful lists are closer: - Add exclusive lists @MastodonEngineering I had a weird thing happen today and I can't get rid of it. At the top of my caturday column I have an offer to follow this hashtag. I don't want to follow it, I want it to just flow into this column. But I can't get rid of the header thing. Does anyone know how to remove it? Or should I report that somewhere? @mem_somerville @MastodonEngineering As far as I can tell there's no option to remove it. However, I was able to remove them using uBlock Origin's element zapper. Now my columns are back to normal. If you use something like Tampermonkey or Stylish, you can target those headers via the class .hashtag-header. Not ideal, but it works. @mem_somerville @MastodonEngineering This is a feature - technically this was always there, just before it was a small image instead of a large button, they just made it more obvious that it exists now as having unexplained icons for everything is bad UI design. Technically you could use cosmetic filtering in something like uBlock Origin to get rid of it, however that would remove it from all hashtag timelines. @MastodonEngineering@mastodon.social Does it already have quoted replies? like @firefish@fedi.software ? @MastodonEngineering honestly don't see how killing off relay.fedi.buzz is an improvement....🤦🏻♂️killing usability of your platform for small #instance #mastoadmin.....yikes. @MastodonEngineering I upgraded my single user instance from yesterday's nightly to today's beta release. It has been smooth sailing so far. #mastoadmin @MastodonEngineering Dear Sir, Kindly provide push notification feature without depending on #Google play service for #degoogled phones 😌 #mastodon #fediverse @MastodonEngineering As also mentioned on GitHub: - Please consider to change 'Live feeds' to 'Public timelines'. It much better describes where it's about and existing users will not complain about missing functionality. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/25641#issuecomment-1670069276 - Please remove the new legal report category feature or at least give server owners the option to disable it. https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/23941#issuecomment-1670007258 @MastodonEngineering no one is talking about how there is no actual features added. Badges aren’t a thing people want. People want actual new things into mastodon, a better way to talk to other servers, better ways to not missclick when using mobile phones because you guys put the sidebar on the right side, etc. NEW FEATURES. I was so happy when you announced that there would be a separate account for posting developer news that ordinary followers of the @Mastodon would not need to know. But then what is the point, @Mastodon, if you then just boost the posts only server admins need to know about? Any way, as always, thanks to all the folks dedicated to improving Mastodon!!! @MastodonEngineering This release will break relay.fedi.buzz, a great service by @astro. It worsens UX for Users on smaller instances, defeating the purpose of federation by making it less attractive. @MastodonEngineering Can you pull translations from Crowdin before the next release, please? They are missing fro beta3 😉 There is also another really important feature lacking. Time based posts. Ability to set a feature date for when a post will be published. Also very good for privacy. When you are on vacation and don't want people to know you are away from home. Or need to time an event but are not sure you will be able to post at the right time. Example a birthday or celebration. Users should not have to use 3rd party sites. |
