Furries are people who identify with animals, I think, to the point of unironically dressing in animal suits sometimes. I used to think it was a relatively new phenomenon, enabled by the internet existing; now I think it probably taps into something ancient and primal, and maybe even spiritual. I'm no expert though.

I guess for some people in the furry fandom, as I think it's called, there's a sexy element; but despite Rule 34, I think that's not the dominant thrust (as it were). But my exposure to furries has been pretty limited -- Ive only met one, afaik. (Seemed like a nice guy. Not strong at Baduk though -- I was able to beat him, and I suck.) It's not really an interest of mine, but I am livid that fascists are attacking furries and trans folks.

Yeah. Historically, they go after the *most* marginalized first. Transgender people (and furries -- and I gather that there's some overlap, maybe) are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine.
