@MattTheQuick @Gargron no no, he is playing the actor of "being concerned about big companies" but did accepted a private confidential meeting with Meta some days ago, therefore contributing to the first steps of selling the fediverse to a big corp like Meta. Eugen is being an opportunistic player and this is not good. @Gargron Get rid of the nonsense about people signing up to Mastodon.social by default. Change it to a random instance of the Fediverse. You'll suffer less. @jpavonabian @Gargron i have to agree with this. it should be even further dumbed down so that users feel like they're choosing a 'name that suits you' with a random list of instances with different domain names. that way they feel like they're tailoring it to themselves. @jpavonabian @Gargron Or at least random between instances that meet appropriate guidelines.
