@sindarina as I recall, the 192.0.2.0/24 address range was assigned because for years, Sun Microsystems shipped systems with 192.0.2.5 as their hardwired static IP address. Does anyone agree? Anyone else remember that, or am I “hallucinating” that?

@paco Hmm, I don't think I've heard that one before, but it also wouldn't surprise me? Sounds very similar to the story that a large chunk of IPv4 space was unusable because Microsoft hardcoded it as such in Windows.
