@danielfgom I am loving that more are being introduced to the fediverse.

It would be irresponsible though to not point out that the majority of users are migrating to the top instances. Migration to all the same instance(s) is missing the forest for the trees to borrow the metaphor.

@olenglishD True. People go to where other people are, like sheep. No one wants to sit there all alone after having just left a very busy/popular service (twitter/Reddit etc).

Perhaps with time they could be persuaded to move instances, although I don't see why they would want to if they are settled in theirs.

There will be a need for funding the bigger ones to act as the central hub in a way. Maybe various communities could agree to move to other servers to lighten the load?

@olenglishD For example, on Lemmy there are Communities which are essentially sub-reddits. Maybe the mods could move them to other smaller servers when they get very large and encourage subscribers to do the same.

The functionality could be added to Activity Pub or whatever to do it in bulk by the admins.

We'll need discussion around this problem and lots of ideas.
