Gregory's Server@atomicpoet @mmasnick @fediversenews I haven’t noticed the influx of new people like I did in November/December, but maybe that was more of a function of being part of the inflow myself. I am hopeful we will start to see more “official” accounts come online. A lot of companies and public institutions are going to balk at having to pay if they want visibility!

 @rbos @atomicpoet @mmasnick @fediversenews Oh totally. I saw it while on City Council too. We would bicker about $100 for something but wouldn’t bat an eye at a million dollars. I think it is part of the human condition to haggle. And you can’t haggle as easily over a huge sum for a big identifiable purpose.  @chris @atomicpoet @mmasnick @fediversenews Bikeshed problem, I suppose. Hard to have an opinion about the nuclear plant, but you can sure as heck have an opinion about what colour the bikeshed should be.  @chris @atomicpoet @mmasnick @fediversenews When people create a new account their reach is fairly limited until they build some followers so that's one thing to keep in mind. I have been noticing quite a few accounts from new people joining though. Speaking personally, it's shocking how much resistance my workplace puts up toward this kind of small expense, while barely batting an eye at, eg, software licensing in the tens of thousands.
