Using a canning ring and seal to make a rice burger bun.

Step 1: pack the freshly-cooked sushi rice in a canning ring.
Step 2: put the seal of the canning ring overtop, and press down to compress the rice.
Step 3: Peel the seal off, and then flip the ring (and rice bun) so the edge is up on top. Then, gently, using the back of a spoon, push the rice patty out the ring.
Step 4: Voila! Pan-fry buns to add some crunch, repeat steps for more buns!

The rice bun burger we had, with some pan-fried tofu and sweet onions.

@rek the way you plate stuff and think about color is so good

@rek looks delicous, despite my tired eyes seeing a little crab there 🦀

@rek Any tips for preparing or flavoring tofu? I'm currently exploring the use of it in my cooking but I find it to be a bit bland if I pan-fry it without anything

@kelp I like it plain so it's difficult for me to say, but if you squeeze most of the water out, then dry it in a pan at low heat (itll get real thin and stiff) then you can marinate it for a few hours with flavorings (soy sauce, mirin, chili flakes, garlic, ginger for example..) and it'll soak up everything. Then you can pan-fry it like that.
Its easier to get the water out of harder tofu, itll take longer with the softer varieties (but i have done it, cause in japan thats all they have)

@flbr There's a burger chain in Japan (Mos burger) that makes these :>... its where the inspiration came from :D~
Keep in mind tho, the buns may still fall apart a little when you start biting into it, but these held together well enough (cept near the end).
