@godotengine
Insane, congrats on this huge release!
I'm genuinely happy to see a FOSS engine attract this much attention 🙂

@godotengine some features that I noticed most in the list:

- Multiple window support for editing
- GDScript improvements
- Improved 2D editing
- Many graphics improvements
- Improved localization workflow
- Dedicated import dialog with preview
- easy support for RPC via decorators

Looks great!

@matt @godotengine been using 4.0 for a while, didn't notice multiple windows for editor!

+>e

@8bitape @matt @godotengine multiple windows support is for games too.

Is limited to docks for now in the editor but some users are experimenting by extending it to other panels with plugins

Looks like it's time to update the version of Godot Engine that aspirationally sits on my computer but that I never quite get around to building anything with

tomo
@bridget all ive ever built in it is a giant brushwork penis you can airstrafe around
Calum Andrew Morrell

@bridget I have far too similar a problem! Perhaps we can both find the time to learn 4 ... at some point?

@godotengine Congratulations #godotengine developers and community! Exciting to watch what you all are creating.

BackAt50Ft

@godotengine Legitimately the most impressive amount of work for a release I've ever seen, even for 1.0 versions. It's bonkers, and incredible. Congrats!

Josh Jones

@godotengine I'm proud to have been a part of this, thanks for being open to contributions!

Savo Vuk

@godotengine Lets goooo. I am so happy for everybody who's been working on it 😊

@godotengine

This is exciting - congratulations!🎉

We've published one game developed using Godot ('Sea of Roses' on Steam). The game needs some updates and I'm looking forward to exploring Godot 4.0 to make that happen. Congrats again!

Is there a community of Godot users on Mastodon?

@godotengine Hmmmm maybe I should make a game.. how hard can it be? #GodotEngine

@godotengine I hate to break it to you, Godot, but i'm too stupid to use you. Also, it would help if people dont treat me bad because i'm not using 4.0 Godot.

phryk 🏴

@godotengine Hells yeah! Now I only have to wait for my OS to support my new GPU. 😂

@godotengine Just contacted the maintainer of the #FreeBSD port about a build issue on BSD that was bumped to 4.1 so they can fix it with a patchfile in the port. :)

@godotengine

(how to have script on a screen and scene in another ?)

Soosh

@godotengine I’ve never touched Godot, but still exciting news! Congrats!!
I’ve recently finished a Unity 2D dev bootcamp, and this makes me want to try Godot engine! Anyone know what’s it like transitioning from Unity to Godot (for 2D game dev)?

dmg

@godotengine Congratulations! I can't wait to download and have a go at the new toys, er I mean features! :ablobcatbongo:

GhostOnTheHalfShell

@godotengine Ok so, biggest question I have is the 3d physics engine. I used bullet, do the engines work notably different?

Also I have a couple c++ modules. Subclasses to Node and not tied to rendering at all. I know classnames are massaged, so how much grief to port (build system etc)?

Ken

@godotengine let's GOOOO!! CONGRATULATIONS TEAM, BIG MOVES HERE 🫶🫶🫶

Mizarc

@godotengine Ay yo, this is huge! I've been following Godot 4 development since it was announced back when I was in high school. I've since graduated university with a degree in game development and I promise to publish my first real game in Godot.

@godotengine And not in this toot one word about what this program does.
