Although I don't have a "smart" TV I do have Amazon's Fire TV Cube with Alexa. It was a gift from my mom (which is why I feel compelled to use it!)

It does all of the ridiculous things you mention. I am constantly frustrated by it.

And I'm constantly surprised that Amazon is seemingly getting away with this disingenuous behavior.

When Amazon offered a Fire Tablet with ads they clearly disclosed the ads and provided a discount if you were willing to put up with ads.

Amazon's forced-ads in their Fire TV Cubes seems to be very deceptive anti-consumer behavior.

(And my mom knows not to get me anything like this in the future without checking with me first!)
