@minecraftchest1 @openrightsgroup Circulate the details of this outrageous Bill as widely as possible. @rafiki @minecraftchest1 @openrightsgroup What in the bill is outrageous, specifically? Open Rights doesn't say in their dramatically edited, scaremongering video. This seems highly sus - just the kind of AstroTurf crap I suspect Facebook and other tech companies are funding to prevent accountability. 1/2 @rafiki @minecraftchest1 @openrightsgroup Social media damage is well known and documented. Eating disorders, suicides, election interference, terrorist radicalisation and more. It's past time the law catch up and hold social media to basic safety standards. From what I've read of this bill, it's still rather weak but a good start. I'm not going to be put off by a 25sec frenetic video and hashtag. 2/2 @rafiki @minecraftchest1 @openrightsgroup Not clear where this bill gives the UK gov *any* power to "scan". Seems all requirements are on the social media companies. Open Rights - care to respond? You're looking like an AstroTurf. @openrightsgroup No wonder they want to scrap the humn rights act where Article 8 gives us a right to privacy. @openrightsgroup "For the Children" has been used for more and greater evil than any other set of words in human history @rticks @openrightsgroup I believe "To protect us from sub-human them (pick any outgroup)" has been the rationale for far more evil. Yes, "for the kids" is abused. But kids do need some protections and that rationale is not immediately suspect. Challenge/discuss. A free for all is not a valid approach. @TCatInReality @openrightsgroup I am all in favor of protecting kids Indeed, I bet more than you since I dont think Parenting should be a right but a privilege that you need to be tested to be worthy for. And if I was to count any evil you could name of "xyz other is trying to kill us" for every example you cite I can find the demogog also invoking "for the kids" as well @rticks @openrightsgroup My main point was that "for the kids" has some value. Challenged/debated but not automatically discredited. Sounds like you agree. |
