Again, it's worth noting how OVERT conservatives have become about trashing folks with disabilities in classic #Nazi fashion. #Trump definitely set a new bar for this by mocking a disabled reporter at the podium and not being immediately condemned by #GOP. Now it's open season.

@stevesilberman Republicans are consistent in their hate & bigotry.
GOP = Nazi Terrorists

Bud

@stevesilberman Attacks on the disabled, on trans and even gays, and that's just scratching the surface.

The GOP are Nazis, they're using the same fucking rhetoric of 1930s Germany, they're using our system to attack the rights of various groups, and people are acting like centrism is acceptable.

It's sick, and I'm so sick of how willfully blind and complacent the average Texan is about this.

I won't forget or forgive, fuck enablers.

@stevesilberman I don't think they fully understand who they're messing with.

@stevesilberman Seems like a good reason to look at other services over PayPal whenever possible.

@BrianJohnson @stevesilberman Have been forced to use PayPal once or twice, immediately deleting my account afterwards. Compulsive hand washing.

#Peterthiel’s fascist wet-dream is coming true.

@stevesilberman Yes that's awful, but pretty much everyone mocks disability. Last night, Stephen Colbert poked fun at George Santos claim he had 2 knee replacements with a mockery of a disabled person walking without bending his knees, and it got a big laugh. And back in November he made fun of a man for his rubik's cube collection by mocking autistic social awkwardness. Yes we need to call out bad behavior by bad people, but can we also call it out by those we think of as good people? If we don't also call out ablism by people we like, we don't have any moral ground to stand on.

@stevesilberman
These kinds of horrible remarks are not all that unusual. These attitudes are common and prevalent in society, and not even limited to conservatives. Greta has been attacked this way, by pathologizing her autism, since the inception of her activism.

Steve Silberman

@obrerx I literally wrote a book on that history, as well as an article on Greta and how she's attacked for being autistic. I don't think saying "not that unusual" really helps. Better to point it out. vox.com/first-person/2019/5/6/

@stevesilberman You've misinterpreted. I wasn't suggesting that you shouldn't point it out. You absolutely should.

That's why I boosted your post, to get it more notice.

Just broadening it even further for those who might not understand that it is more than something limited to the fascist MAGA movement we see on the rise. What has been said about Greta (and by extension to all autistics) reveals how we're conceptualized throughout society.

@stevesilberman Thiel is viciously anti-civil society, and creepily uncivil - this kind of insult is just sophomoric and the audience at Oxford should have been offended.

How much money has #Thiel donated to #OxfordUniversity?

@stevesilberman "Well-designed governments encourage good behavior and bar against the potential for evil." davidswanson.org/can-we-really I'm not in favor of prior restraint or eugenics.

I would like to try an actual meritocracy, a system that elevates people of good character.

Currently, we have a system of corporate welfare for born rich corporate criminals, and lassez fair bare-knuckles wage slavery (or prison) for the honest working poor, and a majority of nations see US as a threat to peace.

@stevesilberman Peter Thiel can kiss mine. We don't 'brigade' - some of us just toot.

@stevesilberman Only in a world based on the principles of greed and stupidity could Thiel be addressing students while Thunberg was under arrest. In any decent system, it would be the other way round.

@stevesilberman Thiel is the bastard that destroyed Gawker and defined the end of the hopes of a real, free internet media. He's the master and Vance is the apprentice ... and Vance is more dangerous than Trump.

@stevesilberman Republicans are not conservative. They are domestic extremists terrorizing the country.

Still amazes me how one teenaged girl scares the crap out of the ultra rich white guys.

@stevesilberman Indeed. The comments are not clumsy nor naive. The language is balls out offensive and that’s the intention. The strategy is to further polarise, inflame and exploit. We need to watch and play the ball. These people want us to watch them. That way the ball is moved and we don’t even realise.

@stevesilberman I wonder how former paypaler and also autistic Elmo would feel about this? 🤔
