Our DMs are a bit different than Mastodons, instead of a thread based approach we opted for a conversational one.

@pixelfed Do it like Signal - encrypt everything so hard that when the user needs to get their data or move to a different device, the data’s lost, no matter how important it is to the user. Basically the data is so safe it actually ends up not being the user’s data after all. I love this feature so much in Signal. @kevinteljeur That's our plan. Users will be responsible for backing up their private key and if they need to switch devices or otherwise lose access to it they will not be able to decrypt previous conversations. @pixelfed I have stopped using Signal because some conversations are now trapped on an old iPhone that exists only to hold those Signal chats until i can figure out how to break in.   @pixelfed @Brett_E_Carlock It's complicated, and will be limited to Pixelfed initially. We look forward to working with other projects on this endeavour. |
