Gregory's Server@pixelfed Do it like Signal - encrypt everything so hard that when the user needs to get their data or move to a different device, the data’s lost, no matter how important it is to the user. Basically the data is so safe it actually ends up not being the user’s data after all. I love this feature so much in Signal.

@pixelfed I have stopped using Signal because some conversations are now trapped on an old iPhone that exists only to hold those Signal chats until i can figure out how to break in. |
@kevinteljeur That's our plan.
Users will be responsible for backing up their private key and if they need to switch devices or otherwise lose access to it they will not be able to decrypt previous conversations.
