@beverlylelong @trumpet you type a hashtag or a person's handle in the top left hand corner box. Mastodon doesn't have regular text search like Twitter does.

@beverlylelong @trumpet I am no expert but I would say it depends on which app/interface you are using. I use the Mastodon App for IOS and one of the icons along the bottom is a magnifying glass π for the search page, which allows you to search for people, hashtags, posts, etc.

@trumpet Iβve tried following about 5 different people this morning but all of my follow requests say they are Pending. These accounts have told me they automatically allow follows so not sure what is happening. Network slowness???

@TimR @trumpet I think that's due to a very large queue that's very backed up. When you click follow, it doesn't interact with the DB instantly β instead, it queues your follow request because it requires a handshake with an external server. @TimR @trumpet I had the same problem but it started working properly about 3 or 4 hours ago. Unfortunately all my pendings stayed pending, but if I went back and cancelled request then re-followed it worked. Not sure if the backlog will ultimately clear. Also not sure how you actually see all the federated users you've followed as they don't appear under Following, although maybe that will fix itself later?

Scalability was always going to be an issue. Such a massive growth in new users over such a short time couldn't really be anticipated. KBO!
