Gregory's Server@Gargron I typed that into the search and it says there is no such name (macaw.social) so how do I find it to follow it? Yes, I'm new here π€¦ββοΈ

What I do is go to the instance directly https://macaw.social/directory & look at the user directory and follow ppl with interesting posts. Following sometimes needs you to put in your handle, other times it needs you to copy theirs. IDK why there are two ways. I'd love to be able to browse an instance without leaving mine. I'd love if following users on other instances didn't require copying and pasting. @MadSci Thank you eventually - can't see a directory as such but will have a scroll through there. Appreciate the help on desktop there is a ink on the bottom left on mobile, hit the ... go to the about page and then down the Botton you'll find the profile directory link hope this helps! :) @BrownSquirrel @Gargron ah okay, yeah you either have to search each account individually, or take a look at their directory and follow. Iβm glad you found out how to do it though. There are some interesting people over there. @BrownSquirrel @Gargron yeah itβs a big learning curve compared to traditional social media. Use it as a web address instead :-) @BrownSquirrel @Gargron ha - you replied very quickly :-) was going to fix the typo - I meant 'individual' account :-)  @BrownSquirrel it is a whole server not a user so you cant 'follow' it. you can follow users who are 'on' it if you want. you can go to the website https://macaw.social/directory and click local at the top and then see users who are from there and then copy their usernames into your local search @liaizon Thanks very much for your help - have since found that out (as well as where the directory actually is!). I didn't know what to expect but enjoying it so far. Very hard to get the other mob out of our heads - especially when I am still using it because of some of those I've left behind. π |
