I feel like this time, there are more people tooting. I also find a lot of relevant content on the hashtags I follow. 1. You can search for a hashtag, e.g. #OpenSource on the search interface (web) or Change the URL https://mastodon.online/tags/OpenSource with a hashtag of your choice. 2. If you are on the web interface, you can see the search results and an icon (person) next to "Back". Click it to follow the hashtag. 3. Now toots related to OpenSource will appear on your timeline. @Gargron Will the instances increase their capacities? @Johann_v_d_Bron if you are technically inclined, you can run your own mastodon server. I use scrapped computer parts for mine. Surely there has to be some stat, or rule of thumb that a certain percentage of those are only sign ups, and never come back, and duplicates on different servers...  I have Tiny concerns about the ability to scale up, albeit we haven't hit the barriers yet, which is great news. Another question is about user retention, but this comes later too. @Gargron I just shared this on Twitter in a Tweet. I also see people sharing Twitter posts on Mastodon in a Toot. You can self verify by doing some reference link wizardry to a personal web site. People with checks next to their name are just adding it like an emoji, don't pay attention to it. @Gargron keep telling us what support you need from us. Let's hope it doesn't speed up as the #Twittercide continues! @MRC @Gargron There are quite a few bits around, but most of them do cross posting with other sites or work as an RSS feed. I haven't seen any problematic bots yet. They could very well appear (or be here already), but with the way content is shared and moderated on Mastodon they are much less likely to have any reach. If a server fails to moderate and becomes a haven for trolls and spam, the entire server can be blocked either by the other servers or by individual users. :)  @Gargron just so we are clear, this stat (or the one on join mastodon about us page) doesnโt include any forked mastodon network right? Eg. those popular right-wing platforms.  @Gargron What a difference a few weeks can make & a new prospector can make over at the Blue Bird. @Gargron I think there are many duplicated people,like me.check my followers. @Gargron 1M currently struggling to find their networks. Quick fix: allow anyone to see who is following whom on and from any instance. Thank you ๐ @debe @Gargron I haven't been here for too many months, but in my experience, I was just here to follow niche open source software stuff, and I never managed to get into twitter. Suddenly the place just explodes with life, but with the way Mastodon works, the communities I used to follow are not really affected at all except that there's a little more activity - what has changed is just that there's suddenly a lot more going on elsewhere if one cares to look for it. It's an enrichment for sure!  And the number of bots in that count is probably a rounding error. Unlike somewhere else I won't mention ๐ธ  @Gargron with it being decentralised , how do you get these kind of stats? Do instances 'phone home'? @Gargron Life got busier for you from the 27 October.
