@Gargron @Johann_v_d_Bron  @Johann_v_d_Bron @Gargron people step up and create new servers, anyone can do it, although it's slightly (but really, not extraordinarly) technical, it's built to be decentralized, not dependent on any particular server, so it can't be destroyed by a billionnaire buying a particular server. @Johann_v_d_Bron yes. A lot of instances are closing new applications until they have had a chance to scale up. |
@Johann_v_d_Bron if you are technically inclined, you can run your own mastodon server. I use scrapped computer parts for mine. I have about less than 20 users.
