@reido Welcome here! Many are not even trying before spreading it is "too complex" or "bad UX". It's just a way to preserve their initial network and to influence against Mastodon. I see this trend growing.

@davidrevoy I think it's mostly low frustration tolerance. We have gotten very used to plug-and-play, so any negotiating we have to do to get something set up is intolerable. tl:dr--we are spoiled.
