Someone asked me earlier why I have so many Fediverse accounts.
Don't I need just one?
No, as your time goes on here, you'll want more accounts! This is because the Fediverse is bigger than Mastodon—there's lots of Fediverse apps!
To review what I use (and often self-host):
1. Mastodon: you definitely know this one
2. Pixelfed: an image-based app similar to Instagram
3. Pleroma: a super simple microblog app that can be run on the cheap
4. Calckey: pretty, feature rich microblogging app

But there's even more apps on the Fediverse:
1. Peertube: a YouTube replacement
2. Bookwyrm: a GoodReads replacement
3. Lenny: a Reddit replacement
4. Hubzilla: an everything-but-the-Kitchen sink app that's has something cool called Zot6 (won't get into that)
5. Drupal (through plug-ins): one of the world's most popular CMS software
This just scratches the surface. The Fediverse is a huge ecosystem of social apps.
And I'm building one too—details coming soon 😉
