I really ought to be working right now, but instead, I made this "happy not happy" calendar on my site...

How you feeling Rek?

A simple calendar named "Happy not happy" made with tables.

There are two months, november 2024 and december 2024, some days have been assigned colors to mean different moods.

Orange red is happy,
Grey is neutral,
Sad is teal
Very sad is indigo
Tired is baby blue

@rek what’s the difference between sad and sad+?

R E K

@zens sad and very sad(sad +), just a distinction for days when I'm really not well.

@rek that's cool, i'm using an app to track that kind of stuff and it's really illuminating. Seeing this makes me want to try to make one too sometimes, i like how simple it is :3

@ritualdust yea that's what I'm hoping for, for some idea of how often I feel a certain way, to see if there's a pattern. I don't know if I'll stick to it, but we'll see.

@rek @ritualdust I've been doing something similar since 2020 and I would recommend tracking other things that could be affecting mood like sleep, food, maybe even factor in weather data. you'll see patterns eventually :)

@rek a long time ago I used an app called Moodstats to track my mood. I think it's abandonware now, but it was really interesting and I've often thought about building a modern version of it. The only piece that I felt was missing was this idea of compounding mood. While you could add notes, there wasn't a system to weigh/tag influences or events. For example if I don't have my coffee, I'm much more likely to be grumpy.

Product screenshot of the Moodstats app showing a mood chart with separate lines for mood, creativity, stress, email (sent), exercise, and achievements. Above the chart is a note about seeing Lord of the Rings.
