@jalefkowit @seano It's more apparent for people outside of the USA (who give enough of a shit about all this to know what a SuperPAC is). @seano @jalefkowit But it's abso-F-ing-lutely amazing how much money you can spend influencing an election if you've file papers as a PAC rather than just as a person. It's like RICO except very legal. @aburka @jalefkowit Note the wording. They are paying you to "lean blue:" and "make a voting plan." It probably falls under the same laws as paying someone to endorse your candidacy for office, which is not illegal afaik. @ardgedee @jalefkowit yeahhh I'm staying away from this one, it's clearly against the spirit of the law and likely to feed into fascist narratives @aburka @jalefkowit they're technically paying people to make a post on social media, they aren't checking if you actually vote @jalefkowit so the US finally goes full capitalism and doesn't even try to hide rich people with money are the ones controlling the masses with their money and hence the election, wtf en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_PAC @jalefkowit THIS is where us politics is? They can literally pay voters to vote a certain way? WTF? This happens here but it's very hush-hush and pretty fucking illegal. @shellheim @jalefkowit Any eligible voter who didn’t vote last time qualifies. But only blue-leaning people in swing states will get a BIG payment." @shellheim @jalefkowit @shellheim @jalefkowit @dec23k @shellheim @jalefkowit interesting. So if someone was blue-leaning but voted third party in the last election then they're no longer eligible for a bribe. Not surprising, I guess. Someone who cast a so called "protest vote" in the previous election would probably be harder to convince to sell their vote rather than someone who was too disinterested in the spectacle to even bother casting a vote in the first place. Tha CAH people have generally been great to follow and interact with over the years... so you should go check out their "turn out the vote" site and maybe get $100 for your time: Great share @jalefkowit! You may enjoy The Lever's #MasterPlan podcast. The John McCain quote I posted from it today is so relevant to this. "Lots of studies show that “making a voting plan” is one of the most effective ways to get a person to actually vote." Huh. You learn something new every day. I know what I'm going to focus on in the next elections here... @jalefkowit Holy cow. This was the wildest while most on-point FAQ I've ever read. While, you know, the whole initiative being great although the context is pretty messed up at the same time. How is this not illegal??? Cards Against Humanity is PAYING people who didn't vote in 2020 to apologize, make a voting plan, and post #DonaldTrumpIsAHumanToilet—up to $100 for blue-leaning people in swing states. Wtf?! See: https://www.Apologize.lol *I am down with this company's attitude so I'm obeying & posting what they told me to CAH is the hero we need. “Is there some way I can force Elon Musk to pay $47 to Cards Against Humanity PAC? Funny you should ask! If you’re a registered voter in PA, GA, NV, AZ, NC, WI, or MI, just type your name into this dumb website for his PAC, put “MuskIsDumb@cah.lol” as your referrer, and they'll be legally obligated to pay us $47. The more people who do this, the more Musk money we’ll get to un-fuck America. @crispius @jalefkowit *reads lists of states* "Aw, I'm not in one of those states. 😔" "🤔" "...but my in-laws are! 😀" @pixelcode I can't access Musk's PAC website from the outside (no idea what's going on there, but I can guess), but everything else I see is wow, indeed. @jalefkowit |
@jalefkowit This is cute. Nit: You don't need a Super PAC to get this information
