 @ifixcoinops oh hey I didn't know Aliens had a better cut. I heard Alien3 had a director's edition that was substantially better than the original release (which I didn't like)  @arichtman oh man yeah there's like half an hour that got left on the floor for Aliens Alien 3 has a cut that makes it a technically better film to watch, but still a shite story tbh. Best Alien trilogy is Alien (either cut honestly depending on whether you favour mood or pacing), Alien: Isolation, Aliens (full length).  @ifixcoinops I haven't seen Isolation, thanks for the idea! I did watch a behind the scenes kinda thing about Alien too recently and they really did some cool stuff with it. @arichtman it's a game! And it's actually a better film than most of the films :P (it's not a fun game, but it is a masterpiece)  @ifixcoinops @arichtman "it's not a fun game" Not with that attitude, it isn't. Seriously, though, that shit will give you PTSD. 10/10 @arichtman @ifixcoinops I donβt think the directors cut is better. It takes all the tension away from the start of the film. The only part that definitely should have made the theatrical cut is the scene where Ripley is told that her daughter died years ago while she was in hypersleep, which makes her latching on to Newt make more sense. Dunno if that's really a thing or if you made it up, but if it IS a thing I'm interested. (And I couldn't find anything with a quick internet search.)   @ifixcoinops trackers are alright if you can tolerate the poor tagging quality. in practice, though, they're too ephemeral to have a definitive archive. look at what happened to whatcd. most people use slsk + musicbrainz or beetz, but, while this is slightly better in terms of tagging, it doesn't solve the issue of older iterations of a record.
